Osage Hills Pool Build

It looks fantastic! When we started our build we were sure that Labor Day would be easy to make for completing construction :( It was verrrrry hot. Was the water still cool from just being filled? I would guess it would take time to heat it up. Congrats!

It wasn't that cold for some reason. The first day we swam, which was the 3rd day after filling, it was 82F and cool. By the end of this very hot weekend (100F+ for 4 days now) it was 86F.

Yeah, the water coming out of my hose is even hot.. LOL!

That's what you get for living in the south - warm water no which faucet you use. I was amazed how warm the water was coming out of the faucet when we were in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I love my ice cold water always ready for me in MN :thequeen: . Of course with the warmer winter and hotter summer, it's not quite as cold as it use to be but I have faith that this winter will take care of that.

We went to the nursery and looked around but not much inventory this time of year. I think I am going to wait until spring, but I may pick a few things up if I come across something.

We have had a very cool, overcast, and drizzly weekend. I think swimming season is done.

Was out by the pool for the day and was just amazed (as I am every day) at how beautiful the water is.

My water looks this way because of this website. Thanks to everyone here!

No SWCG yet as we are waiting 4 weeks for salt.
Using bleach and MA from Lowe's/HD. HD has 8.25% in 1 gal for $2.98. Lowe's also has $2.98 but it is 6% and in 1.5 gal jugs. The smaller jugs are easier to carry.

That's my Polaris in about 5' of water. Here it is from closer.

This is the main drain in 6'9" of water (Dang, you'd think I'd get the trash out before taking a picture).

Steps and tanning ledge.

I also found this in the skimmer. That skimmer is party central, I'm telling ya.

All frogs were returned to the wild.

 Good luck!!!

I like your pool. A few questions now that you've had another half year on/in it. I'll have to re-read your post but I assume you built it 50' to swim laps. How has the 50' length worked for laps? Are you happy with the length? Wish you had another 5 or 10'? Would you characterize yourself as a strong swimmer? How is the sittling bench working out? How are your returns to the pool spaced out?
Thanks,
Fred

Yes, I built it for multipurpose use, the 50' length was the minimum I thought it needed to be for laps. It gets more use as a recreational pool in the wide shallow end and tanning ledge. The tanning ledge is my wife's and the dog's favorite area! Though yesterday the water was finally warm enough the wife swam some laps!

I think the 50' length works great, have not thought once that it needed to be longer. Not sure what you mean about being a strong swimmer, I'm not pounding out the miles in laps every day, work gets in the way. I'm also not training for any type of event, triathlon, or swim meet. I have done a triathlon in my younger days and love to swim.

We have one return in the shallow end and then two in each long side, seems to work well, stuff can collect back on the tanning ledge, a few sweeps of the brush help with that.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions the best I can.

Thanks! We are sure enjoying our first full summer with the pool.

I am in the middle of putting up a pergola from Western Timber Frame, once I get that finished I will be building an outdoor kitchen. I'm sure I will start a thread on that in the proper area once things get underway.
