I had this problem on a 2 year old system. The k1/k2/sensor short errors would all appear at the same time. For awhile, stopping and starting the chlorinator temporarily solved the problem but it would reappear an hour to a day later. There was minor damage to the salt cell connector from the shorts. I filed a warranty claim, but got no response, so kept stopping and re-starting the chlorinator when the error showed up. Eventually the salt cell would not start working when stopped/started. Despite repeated phone calls to customer service, I had some trouble getting in contact with Hayward tech support in Canada, but after almost 2 months, I got in contact with someone who knew what he was talking about. Since the 4A and 20A fuses on the motherboard were not shorted on my system, and the firmware updates (make sure to update both your MSP and MPP) did not fix the problem, we narrowed it down to the salt cell, which had significant damage on the connector from the repeated shorts. They sent a new one under the 3 year warranty, and it has been working for 2 weeks now with no errors.
