OmniLogic - T Cell current Sensor Short K1/k2 Relay stuck open

bump. I'm having the same issue as OP. fuses are not the issue here, and our unit is less than 2 years old. I have a call out to the pool builder to check it out, but wanted to see, was @nestler able to resolve it?
My system was close to 5 years old. So I did change the salt cell which made me feel good, but didn’t change the status and still got the error messages. I did buy a new mainboard which did fix the issues. Replacement was easy and has been working well for the last 2 months.

My OmniPL Upgrade is doing same thing, blows the 20AMP fuse every week or two.......salt level might get 2400-2600 PPM but still should blow.

Same for me. Just over 1 year old. However, the Hayward salt levels are changing each day and ~500 ppm higher than measured.

What did the issue end up being? Our pool is 3 years old and we are having the same issue. They just replaced the cell under warranty, but the alerts aren’t going away.

I got on the phone again with Hayward Tech Support, took pictures of my old ProLogic Transformer inside the newly upgraded OmniPL box and the techs sent it to Hayward Engineering. After about a week they came back and said to change the Transformer from the old ProLogic original to the newer OmniLogic Transformer. I had no idea there was a difference but there is.

They needed my old Prologic PS8 serial # on the door of my ProLogic Box so Im guessing its a known issue with the OmniPL Upgrade Kit when you started from older Prologic PS8 PCB.

After calling around NOBODY had any so I begged Hayward and they shipped me one.

Its been installed for several weeks now and no blown fuses, no error messages THANK GOD!

Part # HLX-TRNSFMR

I have not blown a fuse since Hayward sent me the new OmniLogic Transformer.

My system was blowing fuses every week.

If you have an older Prologic or anything but OmniLogic Transformer they will blow.

Hayward was very good and covered it under warranty.

Hi, I saw older threads but not sure there is a clear answer to my issue. I am receiving intermittent errors that the K1 and K2 relay are stuck open and the T-Cell current sensor is short. Error message goes away after a while, but returns. I changed the 4Amp fuse which did not get the permanent fix. Hayward CS is not existent and not sure what to do. Salt generator is working when no error. Is this the main board that needs replacement? Don’t want to spend $1k if it turns out not to be problem. The Omnilogis is 5 years old. Any advise is much appreciated.
What was the final outcome? I am having the same issues. The Neon Guy.

I had the same issue. I shutdown the system then turned power completely off (breaker to off) to the control board. I checked the fuses. They were both good. When I put the power back on everything was working again properly. Prior I wasn’t getting an instant salt reading and I was getting those three error messages. If it happens again, I’ll try the shutdown then power off at breaker reset.

A couple things in this: 1) make sure your firmware is up to date. Hayward recently updated some bug fixes in the software that cause this issue. 2) if that doesn’t fix it then the next thing to try is swapping the cell to see if it clears out the codes. This just verifies that it’s not the cell causing the issue 3) if those things don’t fix it, then most likely it’s a bad board. HLX-PCB-MAIN

Just wondering if anyone who had the K1 and K2 issues has also seen random high salt readings?

Periodically like every couple months I will get a bizarre 6780 Average salt reading or the last one was 8500.....then the system will be spot on 3450 for both average and instant salt readings for aa month.

I have the same problem, Omnilogic, 15 T-cell. Same 3 errors on chlorinator. Started when the weather got into triple digits and we took out a tree that shaded the cabinet. We shut down all power for an hour later in the day after the sun goes down and functionality returns.

Is your transformer an older Prologic or a newer OmniLogic?

I called Hayward and they shipped me a new OmniLogic Transformer which solved my issue

I had this problem on a 2 year old system. The k1/k2/sensor short errors would all appear at the same time. For awhile, stopping and starting the chlorinator temporarily solved the problem but it would reappear an hour to a day later. There was minor damage to the salt cell connector from the shorts. I filed a warranty claim, but got no response, so kept stopping and re-starting the chlorinator when the error showed up. Eventually the salt cell would not start working when stopped/started. Despite repeated phone calls to customer service, I had some trouble getting in contact with Hayward tech support in Canada, but after almost 2 months, I got in contact with someone who knew what he was talking about. Since the 4A and 20A fuses on the motherboard were not shorted on my system, and the firmware updates (make sure to update both your MSP and MPP) did not fix the problem, we narrowed it down to the salt cell, which had significant damage on the connector from the repeated shorts. They sent a new one under the 3 year warranty, and it has been working for 2 weeks now with no errors.
