Yep, no worries about the water in there. No matter how ugly it gets, it will be fine. No worries at all. Like Suz says, you should be concerned and it's good you are. All that will be cleaned up when it's time. :goodjob:
 
Cliff, the pool looks great (aside from the green water, of course)! I think that tile is going to go very well in your surroundings! What a gorgeous view you have to enjoy! I'm with Suz- No blocking that view allowed!

Suz always gives the BEST landscape ideas!! Her pool is my absolute favorite and her yard is equally stunning. You are in great hands!

LMHO!!! It just came to me.... Your yucky green water is preparing you for that fabulous day you've been holding your breath for - when your pool is filling up. "Aaaaaaacccckkkk!!!! It's green! OMG!! I'm gonna die!"

But stay calm. The newly filled green pool won't be as thick looking, nor will it smell. Then hour by hour, day by day, your pool will turn into a beautiful, sparkling pool.

We are just very hands on and detailed. Lol

I'm the same way with medicine and my body etc. I had an odd, but not serious, reaction to some steroid shots in my back recently and called the office just to make sure it was ok bc I was going on a cruise. After explaining what I saw and talking back and forth with the on call dr, he said, uhm are you in the medical field? Because you sound highly educated! Lol I just said dental field but regardless I like to educate myself about procedures and meds I take and research bc you gotta be your own advocate. I kind of feel like that with the pool too. Advocating to make sure all is done as it should be! Lol
 
I have to share my green fill freak out! This was with the refinish. I almost had a heart attack when it was so much greener than the first time. I was feeling some real "refinishers remorse"!

Work is slated to resume tomorrow (Monday). Since I was bored (actually putting off cutting the grass since I have no way to cool off other than a cold shower) I decided to test my tap water which is the same as I will be using to fill the pool. Thoughts please....

Our water has a high tendency to scale as I'm sure you've seen in the shower, coffee pot, etc. I've seen people have to replaster their pool after a year or two in DFW due to not managing their water chemistry. Unfortunately, we have to learn how to manage our CSI to get a long life out of our plaster pools. Maintain CSI between -0.3 and 0 to prevent scaling in the pool and the SWG cell. Also, this winter be sure not to let CSI drop below -0.6 over winter to prevent etching. I have fairly significant etching in my pool from the first winter with low CH.

PoolMath will give you your CSI calculation after you enter all of ylur test results. Tweak pH and TA to move the CSI. Here is how to lower TA, Pool School - Lower Total Alkalinity. I'm lowering my TA right now. You will want TA 50-60 and pH right at 7.8.

That will be easy water to work with! We will work on the tweaks once you get your water in the pool. I have a set of links set up for new pool owners. I will share them with you when you get to the gunite stage.

For right now write these numbers down and put them in your test box so you can reference them over time.

Now go mow that grass LOL

SWG goes on in the next few days. Had to wait to get unions since I figured this would be the one part that will need to be replaced some day. Control panel will allow for total automation from my phone (gotta love technology) and I had them put a light over the equipment area. We thought that having them use brown in the wall-mix on the backside hoping this would go well with the surroundings. Next step is framing the decking, installing decking and then pool finish and then WATER....we are so excited to say the least.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
 
Oh, oh, oh!!! :bounce::bounce::bounce: This is exciting! You've had so much work done!

I love your tile, and you're right, the brown on that wall looks great! It all goes so well with the brick on your house and surroundings. I have only seen a few pools with dark brown tile. Just wait til your water is in... There's something about the contrast between the dark brown and the blue water - I love it!

Others will have to comment on your equipment pad, but I know you're glad to have it set up. Good call on the floods over the equipment. I have only needed to check something a couple of times after dark, but I was sure glad to have those lights there.

You are getting soooo close!! What does your PB say - 4th of July pool party??

LOL on the spot lights over the pad! Well done! You will be able to see things there at night for sure!

I am loving the time line! SO CLOSE!!!
