Northlake, TX New Pool Build

What a difference the forms make! I can finally visualize how it's going to look (always tricky for me). I love it! The steps from pool to patio are going to look great. Such a gorgeous setting. Now I want them to hurry up!!

Thanks Suz...I have a few small surprises to share when we get to the end so stay tuned...

Oh, oh, oh! Tell me now, pleeeese! Do you mean the end of the build or the end of today?!

While wasting time on the internet, I saw this picture and did a double take! It sure reminds me of your place! The big rocks around give it a nice look. I don't know if that fits your plan.

Suz/Kim y'all will just have to wait till the end of the build  Nothing major just a few touches to make this project my own. Great landscaping pic Suz but I have decided to hold off until next spring to do most of the landscaping so I don't feel rushed. My brain is already on overload from the pool...

Well in that case let me spill the beans...uh NO...hehe

Takes an awful lot to scare an old guy like me...seen it all except for pool stuff :paddle:

Suz! We must be losing our touch! I wonder what we can do to make him tell us NOW?????? Hummmmm will have to think of a way to get the info........

Kim:kim: Cliff be scared, very scared!!

I can get a playground full of 100 Kindergartners cleared and in line with their teacher in 1.5 mins! Of course the first time we do the drill it does take a little longer LOL There has to be a way to find out the surprise!!! Still thinking.......

Hahaha!! Kim, I don't think we'll be able to out-fox Cliff. With the exception of his tile, he's been a very calm, cool cucumber about his build. He definitely has a more even focus about him than I have. Come to think of it, you might just be his match! I'm stepping back and letting you two play "What's the Surprise"!

And to be honest, I enjoy surprises and the fun building up to them. They last longer that way!

Awesome! It looks like great work! I love that stepped walkway down to the pool deck! It makes like an entrance statement.

I'm not sure about landscaping.... I love the wide-open feel and ranch look. So 'This is Texas!'

ha ha Suz...I'm sure I could leave it alone and be just fine with some sod and a little river rock but we want just a few things to bring it all to life. We are so excited and can't thank or PB enough...

How about you frame the back wall? Add 2 Japanese Blueberry bushes/trees to either side of the wall to wrap your pool a little. With that much yard behind the pool, you don't want to close out the view, but by framing the wall, you can still see your property beyond the wall but add some "coziness" to the pool area. Beyond the wall, and to allow one to see the yard beyond the pool, add some bushes that grow about 6' tall such as yews or possibly oleanders (toxic to pets and kids if eaten!). You could even continue those plants on the sides of the pool to allow some privacy from neighbors (had to go back in the thread to see if there are houses next door, I think there are). Hardy plants all.

Good luck with it. With that much yard you are lucky that you can add some big plants and have it still look good without being overbearing.

That is quite a crew they had at your house! NICE job! I love it!!!

Landscaping-I say "frame" the steps and fill in the areas beside the steps. That will draw your eye out to the pool's back wall. The plant Goob talked about....what does it look like and how big does it get? If it does not get too tall then that might be a good thing to frame that.

Good thanks for the great ideas...i will look up the Japanese BB bush.

Thanks Kim...I will be going to the nursery this saturday to take a look at what they have. Have you ever ordered online?

Thanks ShantellyLace...the project is coming together. The pool should be completely done by next Friday and sod/clean up will take a couple more weeks. Stay tuned!

Looking great! I would have never thought to pick those waterline tiles but seeing everything together, it looks great!

I was reading through the beginning of your thread to get some ideas on equipment and items to ask about with my pool builder. One of the items I noticed that you had a tough time deciding on was the aggregate/pebble decking. Although the decking in your picture is wet and will obviously change in tone when dry, I think it looks great!

We are deciding on the same but have pretty much settled on the aggregate. I think it helps the decking blend in to the area around it and allow the pool to pop out more. I went and visited several pools each with different decking and noticed that those with the nice decking, the decking stood out, as it should. The pools tended to stand out more with the aggregate which I think will be good for your pool and hopefully mine.
