YES! The monster is almost defeated. Now, you should start looking into how to clean your filters. LOL, going to be a lot of dead algae to clear out.Putting another 2 gallons crossing my fingers it holds or improves

Looks like it’s held six ppm’s since 1:30 PM and I am now at 9.5 ppm at 2:23 pm EST2:23 pm EST 9.5 ppm
That's what we're here for. Anytime you have a question just ask. It will be exciting to see that pool become crystal clear when you're done. A true success story. Good stuff.I hate to admit that I’m sure I will need more pointers along the way until the pool is crystal clear.
Thank you all so much. There is still a ways to go but today was a win over the ammonia wall! That was incredible work today! Looking forward to seeing your progress. Be sure to take a picture every day. Folks here LOVE that!
You should also check and adjust your pH sometime when your FC test is less than 10. If FC is over 10, the pH test isn't valid.
Hello all. It is 0700 on day 2 of SLAM and attached is this morning’s photo. Last night after I got home from work I tested at 1 AM and my FC had dropped to 4.5 ppm. Not sure if my Pool Math calculator is working, but it said to put in another couple gallons of liquid chlorine which I did and went to bed. This morning before the sun came up I tested at 0632 and I was at 15 ppm with a 42 CYA. I waited 10 minutes and retested. Results were 14.5 ppm and 38 CYA. I have a 36 square-foot Pentair DE filter. I rinsed it off last week but I think I have a torn grid. I’ve re-ordered a new set and expect it here in the next couple days just to make sure my filtration system is not a weak link. As you can see the green looks to be pretty much gone. I’m going to brush and vacuum and test around noon. So far so good. Looking forward to seeing the bottom. It’s supposed to be 87 here in Marietta today and into the 90s tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. I know it’s much hotter elsewhere for many others.Post pictures please!
Still SLAMMING…@ko8310 Keep up the good work!
I had a similar pond 4 years back with ammonia. Defeating the ammonia was the hardest part.
A CYA of 30 is fine, but no lower. If you still see the dot at 30, then add another 10 ppm worth is all. Hang in there! Is it recommended to put the sock back in the pool now that I am adding chlorine?
I thought I sent the Father’s Day message yesterday, but I didn’t press post reply. UGH! I have tried to remove the ladder that is in the water as I’m feeling a little frustration as I’m sure everyone has during the slam and progress toward pool clarity is very slow. The ladder has a machine bolt that I removed, however, the ladder did not come off. The pool is still cloudy so I’m wondering if in anyone’s experience are there are bolts attaching the bar that’s in the water to the pool so basically are there four bolts that need to be removed? When I put chlorine in at night, it holds pretty well. Last night I put in 3 gallons of chlorine at 0100 and this morning my PPM was 19 ppm at 07:08 AM EST. I just read it again and I’m at 7PPM. A drop of 12! The pool calculator direct me to pour 3 gallons in to reach 16 ppm. I have been pouring chlorine in regularly to reach the target number. I put in brand new grids in my Pentair filter. The only thing I can believe it is causing me to lose chlorine is the latter but I can’t remove it. Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers. Am still slamming and remaining optimistic after one week. I have to somehow figure out how to get that one ladder out of the pool as it is probably hiding some algae. I got new filter grids for my Pentair and they are in installed as of Thursday…was really hopeful that was going to be a game changer. My FC holds pretty good overnight. My reading was 15 ppm this morning. I’ve checked the CYA about every third day and I was at 30 this morning. Is it recommended to put the sock back in the pool now that I am adding chlorine? Thanks all.
