We bought this Intex Krystal Clear sand pump for our above ground pool. Decided to use the filter balls instead of sand since they seemed higher rated. Hooked everything up on Saturday and it ran and worked wonderfully! Currently battling algae in the pool so decided today to check the filter balls and they were very green. So removed them from the pump, put them into the mesh bag they came with, and washed them. Put the clean balls back into the pump and put back together. Followed the pump directions to backwash, then rinse, then set to filter. Pump comes on, makes normal sound, skimmer basket area of the pump fills up with water but there's no suction on the inputs and nothing coming out of the output. We've tried over and over, checked all hoses for clogs, took apart and started all over, and nothing. Our brand new pump is not working
😭
. We have taken it apart, emptied the balls back out, made sure none were in the wrong place, put them back. We've taken every hose apart and there's no clog. I unhooked the hose that leads from the 2 outtakes into the hose that connects to the pump and lots of water comes out, so no clog there. I also noticed the gauge is now in the yellow after running for just a few seconds as well. The hoses going in and out of pump kind of shake, as if the water is trying to go through them, but it's just not working for whatever reason. Nothing comes out of the hose leading back into the pool when before it was a very strong flow. Filter basket is clean. . Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

The pump is the Intex Krystal Clear 14" pump model # 26647EG SX2800

It sounds like an issue with the valve on top of the sand filter. (Can you post a picture of your actual setup, somebody might spot something too)

Here are some things to check (one at a time):
  • If you take the valve off (have everything turned off/unplugged for safety), can you see the different openings get blocked(closed) or open when the handle is pressed and rotated?
    • A tip: Pick a direction (clockwise or counter) and Always turn the handle in the same direction, even if you go all the way around, some MPV don't have great innards, so if you go back and forth it can shear them.
  • Make sure to FULLY release (press down) on the handle before turning it to the selection.

ETA:: P.S. Welcome to the TFP forums!

Yes, i can see each one opening and closing, nothing blocking any of them. Can't visibly see any issues there.
