New Pool Owner, What Chemicals Should I Have on Hand?

Hello everyone,

New owner here now that the pool is finally completed. Salt will be added next week and I am looking for some recommendations on what chemicals I should have on hand to maintain the pool myself. As mentioned it is a salt pool and I am not sure what other info you need to assist, so I will just give some info below and you guys can have at it:

Salt pool using the Pentair IntelliChlor Salt Generator.
Pentair Intellflo VSF Pump
Pool builder provided a Pentair Kreepy Krauler Kruiser that is currently being used.
I live in Southern California.

Muriatic acid, liquid chlorine at a minimum, salt eventually... it's been a weird day...maybe some experts here will suggest others.
Talk to your pool builder also.

Welcome to the forum!
First thing you must have is a proper test kit. See Test Kits Compared. I recommend the TF100 with a SpeedStir and K1766 salt test kit.
As far chemicals, you will need some liquid chlorine for the rest of winter as your SWCG will most likely not be generating until February or March. An IC will not generate when the water temperature is below 52F or so.
You will need muriatic acid as Green above stated, your fill water chemistry will be high in TA and that will push your pH up.
You may need Cyanuric Acid (stabilizer) depending on what condition the pool water chemistry is in after the one month of maintenance. When you get your own proper test kit, run a full set of tests and post them here. It is likely something will be off as most pool builders and/or maintenance companies are not that good at pool water chemistry.
