Our pool was filled a couple of weeks ago for the first time. It appears the grout is becoming discolored and darkening in areas. The pool tech said it’s normal and due to calcium. Any thoughts?
It is an outdoor pool. No one is going to come by and inspect your grout.
Calcium does not have anything to do with the way it looks. Hard to say what is going on since we don't know what the original color was supposed to be and how it was mixed and applied. To me it looks wet and water either splashed on the grout or water is being wicked up.
