New Pool Build - Northern California

Happy times ahead!

Such good progress!

I can't remember if you have your test kit yet? If you do not please go ahead and order it so it will be there when you need it. Look in my siggy for what and where to buy it.

Kim

Test kit is on the way.

Trying to decide which robotic cleaner to get.

So far the pool is really clean - even having all the construction going on - so we will have little debris and dirt problems it looks like.

I am leaning towards the Dolphin line - just trying to get my head around all the options.

We also just got a call from the pool builders regarding scheduling, and fitting colors on drains etc...Originally we had chose grey pvc, but since we are doing the Black Kona Wetedge we have the option to use black fittings. The pool builder sent a photo of another pool with the same finish as outs and it looks really good with the black fittings - so we are going with that.

I'm sooooo excited for you guys!!!! Wow, things are really clicking!! The black fittings sound perfect. And I'm pretty sure it won't be long before we end up with the Dolphin M5. I think that's the one I decided I would eventually get. Everything was already set to go with the Polaris, so we will stay with that in the beginning.

Thanks for the updates!!!! I love hearing about each and every thing. Your pool is fabulous!!!
Suz.

Your pool is fantastic! I'm really looking forward to seeing this one finished. After much research, we bought the new Dolphin s300i and are thrilled with it. It has Bluetooth, so we can use our iPhones as remotes, turn it on and off, etc. Best of all, it's an amazing cleaner that has a large debris section AND fine filters. Highly recommended.

It does not have a swivel cord, which was my main concern, but it hasn't been a problem at all. I forgot what they called it, but it's apparently a new cord that doesn't twist like the old ones. We still straighten it, however, when we pull it out of the water.

Yes! It's so cute! It turns slightly diagonally and scrubs up and down! It also cleans the bench seat and steps at the end of our pool. We were so surprised. It was hard for me to convince my husband to buy it, but now it's the "best idea he ever had."

Alright - While we are waiting on more pool work to get done I have a poll question.

We are working on our shade structure pergola design for the pool deck - turns out the company sent me the wrong type of beams that have the wrong finish on the ends.

So without stating what I wanted first - what does everyone think of the following 2 renderings?

Option 1: Mitered Corners on all beams and rafters

Option 2: Square Corners on all beams and rafters

These are the same size - just different end finishes.

Mitered. Overall, I don't think it will make a difference in the general appearance. No one will leave your place and say, "Isn't it a shame they did _______ instead of _______ on the ends?"

Now, if I ordered one and received the other, I would probably just keep it. Especially if I received a partial refund or discount.

But... I don't have a Pergola, so maybe it makes a bigger difference than I think.

No it isn't much of a difference.

To be honest I didn't even figure it out looking at the pile of metal that it was wrong until 4AM this morning lying awake.

Now - we do have a very modern home, if that makes a difference.

Option 3 as suggested above isn't an option with the aluminum & the endcaps available.

I have a email in to the supplier - and they are looking into where the mistake was made - and what it will take time wise to replace them with the correct ones...
