New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

OK. If the TA is in range, or even close (100/110), switch to the high 7 range. Let it get over 8 and then aim for 7.8. If you go a little far to 7.6 (because MA is fine to eyeball), it's still all good.

Try that out and see if it remains more stable.

TA was running 165 when I checked the same day I checked Ph which was 8.2+

OK that's still high and likely pulling the PH to go join it in frolicking or whatevs the two do together.

So what you want to do is to operate in the low 7s instead. 7-7.4. TA moves faster there and once you are 100 or so the PH will likely calm down and you can switch to the high 7s.

Or just do your best however in the 7s and it will get there eventually.

I will go that route and see what happens.

I'll also give the links you posted a read through!!!!

Went nuclear on the Ph, dumped a gallon of muriatic acid in the pool. Checked the Ph and TA two hours later.

Ph = 7.2, was 8.2 pre MA
TA = 154, was 165 pre MA

Might have to hit it with more MA tomorrow. We shall see.

Where are you getting these #s ? The Taylor tests go by 10s.
Apparently out of my Rear….I was using 11 instead of 10…baaahahaha can’t do math or follow instructions when my wife and daughter are talking to me or even if I’m alone. Geezzzzz
The example in the instructions shows 11 x 10 and I kept using 11 as the multiplier.

2+2=165:hammer:

So corrected numbers would be 150 and then 140.

Hey. If that's the worst thing that happened this week, it was a GOOD week.

Thanks for the chuckle. I was afraid. I mean. I trust you and all. But those #s only come from one place and you might as well pull them out of your rear instead. So anywho, I'm thrilled it was maths. :)

Question............

A)Not ever having an inground pool, B)having an AGP but usually closed way before now..........How much water loss from evaporation should I expect when the air temps are running mid 70's during the day and low 50's at night. Direct sun from 11am-4pm currently.

I ask because it looks like I've lost about 1.5" since adding water 3 days ago. Just being paranoid is all.

The handle on the multiport was dry early early this morning but was leaking late last night. I don't think I'm loosing that much water in a 24 hour period.

Also, signed up for a Math Tutor from my local college...LOL

1.5 inches is about 533 gallons and probably fine with cool nights. Has it been typically breezy for fall ? That will speed up the evaporation too.

And if you've been using the heater the last few days, I'd be surprised it was *only* 1.5 inches with no solar cover.

It's been breezy for sure.

Heater is still out of commission, haven't heard back on when part will be in.

As I said IGP is new to me and learning how and what makes the pool tick compared to my AGP is a process. I seem to be a little more concerned about a pool that costs 10x as much as my old pool. That and the fact that pipes are buried under concrete, etc.

Wow. Much better. The TA is almost there and as it gets there, the PH should do a bit better each time before leveling out and being more stable.

Patience is all you need. (Which I freely admit is easier said than done. :ROFLMAO: )

No lie, patience isn’t my strong point. Lol

Need to pickup another gallon of muriatic acid so I can bring the Ph and TA down some more.

Well still working (not working too hard though) on getting the Ph down. I will say that the pool clarity looks really good since the dust blowing in has settled down.

Got a final bill from the PB today. He stuck to his word about the price, he didn't charge us any more then what the original quote was. He made the mistake with the pool size being 16'x32' instead of our original quote based on the pool size being 14'x28'. He was true to his word.....Now I still don't have the heater fixed and the anchors for the pool cover haven't been installed yet. He might be waiting on me to say I'm ready to close the pool. I'll get in touch with him and see.

Talked to PB yesterday....He said there was a 3-4 week lead time on the part for the heater and it was to be shipped to my house. He said to let him know when I get it and he will come install it. As far as the cover, he will do that whenever I tell him I'm ready to close the pool.

Pool was a mess when I got home, winds were blowing from the SE and blew a bunch of maple leaves and some straw in the pool. It was the first time since it was installed that I had to actually skim the pool.

Been a bit since I've been on here. Pool has just been cruising along. Part finally came in for the heater. Drought conditions continue and it's been super winder so lots of time cleaning out leaves and pine needles. Funny how pine needles never made it to this part of the yard before, until we put a poo in. LOL

The biggest issue I have right now is the dogs digging in the dirt neck to the decking and slinging dirt and rock all over the place. Grass isn't going to grow anytime soon so I'm not sure what my other options are to do around the decking, at least 3-4' from the edge of the decking out.

On a sad note, we had to have our 11.5 year old Doberman put to sleep. She's been living over at my daughters and son-in-laws for the last 2 years. For the last year we kept thinking she wasn't going to make it and then she'd have a turnaround and then down again. She supposedly had lymphoma, according to the vet last time we saw the vet.
