New Northeastern Pa Build

ok my cameras and lens are pack for the beach so don't mind the horrible pics. but here is where we are at. worked for 2 hours and literally got nowhere i think. lol

oh i got my fence for the pool. you guys like it? lol its all the rage in our area. lol

the pattern is called an "I" pattern. Some companied call it a "K" pattern cause I pattern is copyrighted by the company who calls it that. Where "K" pattern came from that I have no idea. But builders call it "I" pattern pretty much. piece of trivia for the day. lol I found that out a few months ago.

all the soldiers will be glued down to keep them in place.

20 cuts in a 12 foot run!

i think its coming out good. i'm pleased. the line between the coping and soldier course is as tight as we can get it. once it's filled with the sand it will be great. all the cuts are blending well with me roughing up all the edges I think. if you didn't rough up the edges they would pop right out. i'm very glad i went as long as we did with the drain.

I happen to like that fence! If it does the job then that is all that counts! So there! LOL

The decking is coming out GREAT!!!! I don't care what THEY call it. I call it AWESOME! Everyone's hard work can be seen in so many ways.

I hope you let the kid help put on and sweep in the sand. If (who am I kidding?? WHEN) they get some in the pool you can vacuum it out.

Were worried while we were away so we put it up.

Thanks for the complement!

Kids were helping sand a bit a week ago. We are putting finer sand in as we move to lock in wobbles. You should not put the poly sand all the way through anyway so we are building up the joints a bit as we go here and there. They had a good time!

All I'm worried about is the poly sand that if I get any in the pool. since it interacts with water I don't want to have a gluey mess on my hand.

my numbers for the night. I lost more FC than usual today. Kids swam tonight for 1.5 hrs. 3 people in the pool. They couldn't have sucked up 1-1.5 ppm would they?

PH: 7.8
FC: 3.5
CC: 0
TA: 60
CH: 375 that too high?
CYA: 40
CSI: 0.04
Temp: 76

CH too high?
FC . . . loss due to only 3 people swimming for 1.5 hrs?

Thanks!
jim

Cliff and myself were talking about this today.

I got home from my trip. Tested my PH. it was 7.9. ok fine i'll knock it down to 7.2.

so i did my other tests. while the vial was sitting there my wife picked it up and said oh good 7.5. i said what r u looking at? i looked at it. 7.5!? totally changed color after lets say 5 mins. i retested. was 7.9 like before.

does the vial change color if left to sit after testing if the mixture is still in it?

jim

hey guys! so for PH if you let it sit the ph started to read lower. meaning going from say 8.0 down to 7.5?

thanks!

cliff i got to look at that link. i didn't get a chance yet! sorry.

it's been crazy here!

another question. i'm getting setup for salt in a week.

my cya is 40. i loose a lot of fc daily due to sun literally all day. so can i go right to cya of 80 or go to 70?

also after they hook up salt cell they dump salt. is their a recommended amount for my pool? i'm sitting at 19 to 20 thousand gallons.

finally. my plan is to run pump all day long very low. so then i just need to dial in the salt to my target right? so start at say 50% so 12 hrs a day of salt and see what happens to levels and go from there?

thanks!

jim

It is getting late in the year so I would only go to CYA of 60. Your FC usage is going to start dropping pretty quickly.
You can do that now, and adjust your FC accordingly with bleach.

You do add salt. For a Pentair add enough for 2800 ppm. Check your salt level in the pool before you add. Use Pool Math. Then adjust to 3200 ppm unless you know your pool volume very well then just go to 3200 ppm first.

Brush/mix and run the pump to distribute salt.

You should know how much FC you are using each day now. Set the SWCG to create that much each day. Get to your target FC with bleach.
Your IC 40 makes 1.4# of chlorine if run 24 hours @ 100%. So use PoolMath to determine how much chlorine gas you need each day for the FC ppm you use. Then dial in your SWCG to create that much.

Good luck.

Wow lots of info in very few sentences. lol

ok as i digest this. . .

i know my pool volume is deff between 19-20. so can i just go to 3200 now? or start at 2800? how do i know it should go to 3200? that a standard? my cell shows 3600 as a level on the physical cell. why do they mark it on the cell at 3600?

my FC usage varies I am noticing. i take it to 7 each day and with full sun all day long I drop to anywhere between 4-5 from 7. Some times it drops down to 3.5. So if I loose 2-3.5 each day I have to be running well over 24 hrs a day at 100%?
