New Northeastern Pa Build

i'm reading a lot of ur guys builds and I think I'm totally off on my gallons of water calculation. my builder didn't give it to me. what i do know is my low end goes from 3'3" to 3'6" and then slopes down to 6'. 35 total length. my 2 bump outs are 23' and 20'. the middle narrowest section is about 17-18'. i'm coming up with about 20,000 gallons.

just cause i need it in pool math.

also the ic40 is big enough right?

When you ask how long it is do you mean how long the pole is? If so that is not included with the brush. Hopefully your PB is including a adjustable pole with your "start up" stuff.Look in you contract and see if it says anything about what is included.

The IC40 is big enough if your pool is 20k gallons. You want to get a SWG that is 1.5-2x the size of the pool.
Also you want to become a member before you buy your test kit because you will get a discount on your purchase

i know he includes a bunch of stuff. vac with vac pole and hose, skimmer, brush it says. so the pole he included should be able to screw into the whale brush one? they pretty universal?

i'll ask him. worse case i need to go out and buy a pole for it. no big deal.

thanks will. from reading others i started to think i should be getting the 60.

thats man!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms here! Hope you guys all have a beautiful relaxing day by ur finished pools!

Brushes and nets should all be able to use the same pole. I have ended up with two as the extending part does not say working. I have one set to as long as it will got and another set to the height I need to use inside the pool to sweep and vacuum from inside the pool!

Operationally I agree that you will be fine with the IC 40 for you location and pool. However, the most cost efficient purchase is the IC-60. It's not dramatic but it is 40% more expensive for 50% more lifetime chlorine production. And less frequent hassle of it going bad over the years (hopefully many years).

thanks for the info about the 60. i'll check into it today.

thanks for the pole info also. i'll ask him today about that.

Rebar guys r here! I was getting out of the shower at 545 and they were already unloading. 3 guys only. senior should be here in a few to give direction but they are already ripping through it all. They have lifts to get he rebar off the gravel i noticed. I know i have to check al their ties tonight so they don't poke through the shell and give me stain problems. anything else?

should the benches that shoot off my steps actually get framed out?
also the skimmers do they do anything for those or are they just sunk in gunite outside the shell?

Some steps are not framed out. It depends oh how they like to do it. This is where your gunite guys will earn their keep!

Skimmers-they will build a "box" of sorts for it.

Kim:kim:

ok so no rebar for the simmers box? cause they aren't even dug out yet. i have seen some builds where rebar is in that dug out box.

ya so the plan for the steps is like a ramp kinda skeleton. the seats for the steps and the swim out will get framing, but nothing major.

what i did notice that i like was for the top of the rebar where it comes up to the top framing, they used small cinder blocks to hold the rebar away from the framing so it will fall into the middle of the pour when they shoot. they tied these in. thought that was a nice way to get a nice frame for the rebar.

the guys also commented on how much they liked the flashing cause they are using it to bend up against vs dirt which gives. they said that will in the end give me a much nicer even shoot also. they also commented on how much gravel they used which they also liked.

i think all in all we are good. i got pics for tonight. i ended up going to work cause these guys deff don't need any babysitting.

figured i would throw this out there now since i just thought of it in another build i was responding to.

when i talked with pentair a few weeks ago they asked if each of my lights were on their own circuit. i said no 1 cause then when one is on they all would be. i can't see my using 1 and not the other 2 or something like that.

the lady said well if you put each light on it's own circuit in easy touch, so 3 transformers, you can do some kinda dance setup with the lights that they fire diff to make it look like the water is dancing. i only bring this up because my pool is pretty simple. i have the circuits to do it cause i won't ever have any landscaping lights or sprinklers in easy touch cause my whole home runs on HAI/iRule for automation and that stuff is controlled and scheduled there and always will be.

you guys think it's worth it? anyone else doing it?

I was actually just researching how the light shows work with Easytouch and found the same thing. It's a mode called Color Swim where the lights will follow each other in changing colors. It looks like a really cool feature, but I can't see eating up 3 circuits to do this. I'm only going with the Easytouch 4 since I don't have any other features, just need to control the variable speed pump, heater, one water valve, SWCG, and the lights. So I don't think I have enough room to put each of the 3 lights on its own circuit. Plus then you need to have 3 separate transformers mounted outside the box. I think I'll be good with just using the standard light shows with all lights changing at the same time and having them all the same color.

I'm also unsure on which of the above features need an actual circuit taken up in the panel. I know the SWCG uses the built in transformer, so that doesn't use one of the 4 circuits? The heater, I think, uses a circuit (but not sure, I think the heat pump will always be on and I just control the set temp through Easytouch), the VS pump will use a circuit, the lights another circuit, and the water valve another circuit. So I think I will use either 3 or 4, depending on if the heat pump needs a circuit or not.

The valve is an actuator so no circuit is used. U have 2 of those for an easy touch 4. I have a heater, pump, swg, lights, filter. Plain Jane setup. I was told I will be using 1 i my so have 3 left for the 3 lights so I can do it. I'll never be adding anything.

I have to see what I'm going to do also. Right now I'll drop a 1.5 inch conduit to be able to run the 3 dedicated wires for the 3 transformers if I go that route. I haven't decided yet. Sounds neat but like u said. Needed prob not. Lol

Interesting, so I think I would end up with the same setup. The only thing that needs a circuit is the pump? The SWCG, Heat Pump, and Valve Actuators don't use up one of the 4 relays? If that's the case, then I would also have 3 open to be able to wire up each of my lights individually. Would just need to install 2 more transformers I think.

That's how it was explained to me. I didn't talk with my builder about it yet cause I want to keep him focused on the present. Plumbing. Shoot. Plumbing. Shoot. Repeat. Plumbing. Shoot. Lol

Hey guys. Yup all rebared. Each skimmer. They weren't dug out cause the pool is so far out of he ground cause if grade it didn't need to be dug out. Lol

They did the whole pool in 6 hrs. Crazy. I'll take pics when I get home. I'm at baseball. Seniors head guy was over checking it over cause they got a lot to do tomorrow to shoot on Wednesday. Pad prep. Skimmers need to be boxed. All stub ups need to be done. So they got a solid day tomorrow since it's only the 2 of them.

I noticed pieces of rebar outside the shell also for the bonding.

Looks really good.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to jump in the hole and go over all the ties.

Jim

and measure! It is long, wide, deep, etc enough. add about 6 inches for gunite and plaster.

Kim:kim:

so measure rebar to rebar and add 6 inches? so if pool is 35 feet long it should be about 34' 6" now?

ya totally forgot that one! lol it looks huge. that's for sure.

ok pics coming! thanks for the heads up there, Kim!

Oh ya my shhhhhh for the night. . . gunite company said wed/thurs well now it's turing into fri/sat. . . and we finally have a perfect week here. one of the problems using a smaller company. they get put on the back burner for the big companies.
