New Northeastern Pa Build

here are some other detail shots cause i know i love to see detail cause it answers questions in my head. there are so many pics throughout this site but i thought i would just up specific things that i wasn't able to find during research.

closeup of how they did my swing out. you can see how it's totally framed out. and then flares out at the bottom.

steps. my guy does it diff. he does a ramp and frames out the benches. he puts it on the gunite guys to get the risers and treads in case anything changes before shoot. benches on each side are framed out for 6 foot seats on each side of steps into pool.

part of the grounding for the pool. these come out like 5 or 6 spots around the pool and then after it is shot they will tie them all together. there is also 4 more of these clamps running down the length of the bottom of the pool and out to pieces of rebar like this one.

thought this was cool. they put blocks between rebar and framing to space rebar to the middle of the shoot for reinforcement. these are all tied in. they keep them there during the shoot.

skimmer without it's framing for now. cause until today i didn't realize it was needed.

Oh Jim, it looks so good! I can't wait to come over and swim 

Seriously though, lots of attention and care with that work! Nice!

thanks! i would much rather be building this out where you live! at least u get to use urs for more than 3 months out of the year! lol

these guys were good. senior is all over the details. at least from what i can tell.

this project is like such an up and down experience. i get home and see everything and i'm like yah work! ok here we go time to get a shoot date. . . then oh ya date got pushed. . . boooooo. . . i got to start moving my attention to what i know audio and video. i totally wasn't going to so speakers around the pool. only in the pool house and living space there, but now one of the main speaker companies we use for our builds released their first landscaping setup with multiple satellites and an unground sub and i'm seriously thinking about adding an extra zone for just the pool and getting a set for demo purposes at least that's how i will pitch it for the wife. lol

What are you putting on the outside walls of the pool where it sits above grade?

Spring 2017 new build in PA ! //// Pool on a big hill //// IG SWG 800 sqft +100 sqft sun shelf + 50 sqft spa. //// All Jandy Pro series equipment (help me choose which models !) //// SGM River Rok or Diamond Brite (help me choose!) //// Stamped Concrete, Pavers, or Stone (help me choose ! )

If you are going wall to wall you would - 6" and 6" for a total of 12". Please note this is NOT exact. There will be some wiggle room. The idea is to make sure it is about as deep as you wanted and give you something to talk to them about if it WAY off. One build was to be 8' deep but there was NO way it could be that deep after they put the steel in..........they had to remove the steel and do some more digging.

they will but up pegboard when they come to shoot. it will them just be removed when the frames are stripped.

kim thanks for that. so measure steel to steel and add 12 inches. that will be my finished widths and lengths?

jim

rough plumbing is being done right now and the pad is being framed out. it keeps growing. lol it's now 4x8. we r keeping it 4 feet from the future pool house to be able to work on both sides of it.

i have to get in electrical and low volt mode so i know where to put conduit. i always over estimate for the future, just don't want to miss anything.

Yes jim the shell is about 8-12" thick all the way around the pool including the floor and that's from the dirt to where the concrete will eventually end.
As far as pool equipment pad make sure there is plenty of room to work and if you have the space it ok to spread it out some. That is the one thing I remember from being a kid is trying to stick my arm between metal pipes to turn on the filter cause it was tight at my parents house

Thanks for the info regarding the rebar and size. I still didn't measure cause we had elevation issues for the pad and pool house.

Pad will be plenty large enough he said to have everything spread out. He likes to have a lot of work room. He also has it 4 feet away from the pool house cause he wants access in all sides. Which I don't mind cause I want stuff on the pool house exterior wall so I need access.

Rough plumbing looks done. 2 skimmers, 3 lights, 2 bottom drains, 1 bottom return, 1 suction side cleaning line in middle of pool and 3 surface returns vs 2 now.

Oh ya right. Totally didn't think that way. I have so much on my mind.

I still have to measure. I will today cause they aren't shooting till whenever. I know senior said the deep end is going to be about 6'2" vs 6 bit no big deal.

I just did the measurements really quick with my dad as of right now if I measure inside of rebar to inside of rebar all sizes are 6 inches off meaning the length of the pool is 35 feet but the reading is 35'6". The same goes for the width of the pool in two different locations because they are different sizes being a free-form I didn't do board to board for the framing because I didn't have time I just forgot

Right right. Lol.

What I'm more worried about actually is my one return on the step. I just hope it falls at the right height on the riser. It's nice to have the return there but hope it isn't an issue with the shoot.

Will you be able to be there for the shoot? I would butter them up with snacks and drinks. That way you have them in your hand and they will listen to you and can help you make sure it is done how you want.

Kim:kim:

i will be there along with senior and junior all day long. junior especially makes sure thicknesses are proper throughout the pour.

I have a return on a step and they did something that I'm not to sure about and I'm still waiting to see how it comes out once they cut the pipe and put plaster in.
I will say this, definitely have them put the step either right under the return or put the concrete directly in the middle of the return so it's not a eye sore. Right now mine looks like a eye sore and I'm a bit nervous
The top one is a return and the one I'm nervous about and the second will be a light which is right in the middle and looks fine

hey will. morning.

i hear ya. i totally thought of ur build this morning when i was thinking about this. i got a light that is hitting over a bench so that is deep so i should be cool. but ya i got a return and if it doesn't hit dead center it will be an issue i think. ur light that is in the middle is what i think a perfect senerio would be.

so what's the plan with the return that is cut into the tread?

i'm thinking what might save me is all i have are stubs right now. so it can be pulled that day and put back in where need be? i don't have full run of plumbing to the pad yet.

sorry i only got this poor photo. you can see the light at the bottom of pic over the bench. no issue i would assume. the return is the other pipe. again just a 18 inch or so stub.

what do you think?

i hate little things like this. i was going to move it to the bench on the other side.

I completely agree in that the light is perfect, once they trim the lip down and put the light it will shine perfect from the shallow end and look like it belongs.
I'm not to sure about the return and I HATE the way it looks. I know they trim the pipe down and if they didn't do the trench during concrete my thought was the worse that will happen is that the water will bounce off the steps and just create more surface movement. I do however know that it's even with all the other returns so it's needed for skimming and I'm not sure if it would be less effective if the pipe was 3 inches lower. I was told that this is common and not a issues and the experts here didn't see a problem so I'm just trusting and hoping it's ok.
Right now it's a eye sore but I hope that after plaster and all the fittings are in that it looks normal. I will definitely keep you updated. I will say that if I was in your shoes and seeing how mine looks I would ask that either they adjust it a few inches or make sure the concrete guys put the return in the middle of the step so it looks less intrusive provided it doesn't take away from the main purpose of the return.
I would pm bdavis466 as he builds pools and has been so helpful to me for my build

Still no ginite. Guess they r all backed up. This stinks cause my buddy is getting really busy and I need him for the next phase. Decking and retailing walls, drainage before I move on while the shell cures.
