New IG pool build in Fort Worth, TX

And this is what I came home to after work! They are about 3/4 done right now so I'll snap some more photos later.

When the tiles get there make sure to go through the boxes. With it having a random pattern there will be some that are butt ugly and some that are extra pretty. Pick the pretty ones out to put on the "line of sight" places like where your eyes fall as you walk out to the pool. The ugly ones hide so no one will try to use them LOL

Well look at that! I can't wait to see it done!

Got home from my workout to find the gunite job completed.

My PB is currently out of town and I'm waiting for him to give me a call back about watering instructions.

Any recommendations on when to start? I've read 2-3 times per day is recommended for frequency.

Go out and start bonding with it with your first cup of coffee this morning aka watering it. Any way someone could bond with it in the middle of the day? The first couple of days it will be extra thirsty so best to water it as much as possible especially in this heat.

That looks awesome! You know what time it is! Time for your own set of links! Here they are:

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

Also ask your PB what test kit he will be providing. Let us know so we can fill in any holes!

First bonding (a.k.a. watering) session complete. I plan to water 3x per day for at least the first week. My wife will take care of the mid-day shift as she works from home so we're covered there. I'll handle morning and evenings because it allows me some nice quiet time to keep planning for all the after build fun I want to start working on (landscaping, lights, etc.).

I'll be doing most of the installation of the low-voltage lighting myself, just wanting the electrician to put in an extra outlet at the equipment location and another outlet behind the raised bond beam section of the pool. This will allow me to run lights along the 3 sides of the backyard fence and possibly some other lights around the perimeter of the pool. I plan to buy at least one 300W (or bigger) transformer so I won't be limited on the amount of lights I can eventually install. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but I want to wait until the pool build is done before I start in on the lighting project.
Pool is looking great!

I would use multiple transformers that way you can have more control. Never go over 80% of the wattage of the transformer and anything within 5' of the pool must be a safety transformer.

Thanks! I do plan on at least two transformers, just depends on how much extra $$$ the electrician wants to run the power to the locations I have in mind. I might even have an extra outlet placed around the patio in case I decide to do an outdoor kitchen in the future. There are way too many good ideas on this forum and I'm going to end up spending a lot of extra money if I'm not careful :D

Yes it does that. Lol

But if you don't have the extra cash for everything now. At least have the electrician put the conduits in the ground. or do it yourself, it's not that hard: pvc, a saw of some kind, and glue! While the ground is a mess is the best time. I would run at least a 1" out to your future kitchen area.

I had two outlets placed on each side of the decking parameter (one on each side). So glad I did it as we charge phones or plug in the robot! Also had them put a light over the pool equipment which is tied to the automation so I can turn on from my iPhone. The light over the equip pad also comes on automatically when the pool runs in freeze mode...

Would love to see some photos if you don't mind sharing!

Good job on the light...nice pad layout with plenty of room to work (cleaning filter, backwashing) when needed. Plus shade on the equipment is big!!

Nothing too exciting over the weekend but I did go ahead and have a couple of new fence posts installed while the ground was still dug up. I'm going to have a panel and gate installed in front of the pool equipment that will provide some protection to the equipment and allow me to close off the side yard. This will keep the pool equipment hidden from sight as well as the storage shed, water collection tanks and misc. stuff on the side of the house.

I'm keeping my existing patio as part of my new pool build. My original plan was to have the new salted concrete decking butt right up to the patio with a flexible seam joint between the two. I think this will look aesthetically pleasing, but I'm concerned with the slipperiness of the tile when it's wet. Started researching ways to make tile non-slip and found the Johnny Grip product online.

Has anyone used this type of product? If so, how effective and long lasting was it?

I also read that I could use a sealer for the tile and just add in some sand to get a better grip. Would love to hear ideas and suggestions of anyone that has had to deal with this issue.

The waiting is the hardest part! Nothing new since the gunite was poured on 5/31. PB said we could possibly have electrical, tile and coping all done by the end of the week. Unless people show up tomorrow (Thursday) that's not likely. Seems like the work comes in waves versus just a steady stream.......so difficult for a planner like myself! I've already got a list of projects I want to work on once the pools is done.
