New Hayward Superpump is extremely noisy

I like to have a spare pump around. The price of this pump has tripled in recent years, but I decided to get a new one anyway when my current pump started to leak, so I could repair it at my own pace and keep it as a backup.
Unfortunately, this did not work as planned. The new pump is horrendously noisy and will make my neighbors hate me. Like the old one, it runs on 220V.
Any thoughts on what could be wrong with it? I'd hate to take it out again for a return.

What type of pad is between the pump and the concrete slab?

It is the original Hayward pad. I was trying to put weight on the pump and pad in various places to see if it vibrates - it does not. Unfortunately, the new pump assembly has wider pipe connections and I had to use the supplied adapters, which made it not fit 100%. Hence the foam pad under the filter, and the pump is not currently bolted down to the pad because I need to drill new holes. But like I said, that is not the issue.

I think you just got a lemon pump with a rotor armature that is out of balance.

Why didn't you get a VS pump? With a VS pump you can run it at lower speed and it will be quieter.

See if you can return the pump and exchange it for a VS pump.

Where did you buy it from?
