New fiberglass pool build in OBX- Current stage Fence and Landscape.

How far is the heater from the meter. When I installed mine, I had to purge air from the new line to get the heater to fire. My line is corrugated stainless, 1" diameter, 115' long at 2psi. Opening the purge port on the heater valve, it took somewhere between 15 and 30 seconds before I smelled gas. Closed purge port, waited a few minutes for any residual gas to go away, then it lit almost immediately.

Had the NG company out to help me diagnose. They bled the lines to the pool heater and it fired right up. Spa heater still wont fire even though we def smelled gas. Its a 1.2M BTU rated meter. About a 130 foot run. Its a 2" pipe to the heaters and it splits to 2 1" inch pipes at the equipment pad so should be plenty of flow to run both at the same time if I wanted is what they told me. But even just trying to run the spa heater while the pool is off is a no go. We didn't run the pool heater long as the water is about 45 degrees and I read thats not good for the heater to run cold water through it, unless the water can heat up quickly like for a spa.

Im afraid it might be an actual issue with the heater. I never tried to fire the pool heater before tech arrived to be honest as the pool is "closed" more or less but the spa is still up and running and we wanted to start using it this weekend. But looks like thats not happening. Lots of codes pop up when working with it. while its making its clicking and running the blower the screen can flash "CD" "07" and then back to just open brackets like [ ] then after three attempts it goes IF.

Put the model heater’s you have in your signature.
they are universal HC400s specific model is HDF400 Sig updated.

After reading the manual I found the things it shows on the screen are its start up sequence not really "codes" and its all normal except for the "IF" at the end of the sequence.

When the pool heater gets to the final sequence the flame fires and shes off. But the spa heater gets to that point and goes "IF". (on the third try). The NG tech has verified it has gas past the regulator. Beyond that he says is up to the pool builder. Right now im not running through automation just on the control panel of the heater.

From what you describe it sounds like you are getting to the GAS VALVE OPENED indication but not the FLAME SENSED.

For the heater to fire it takes gas, spark, and air. It is under warranty. Your PB should have someone check the gas pressure at the gas valve with a manometer (pages 32-33) and check the igniter (page 39).

Check that the gas valve switch is ON...

internal valve was off. Like pictured above. Super simple. Not sure why one was on and one was off, but its fired. Heating up the spa now to test it. So thanks for finding that diagram that was what solved it for me. All I had to do was unscrew the one screw for the control panel and it was right there. So thanks for that. Will def get some use over the holidays now. Now if they could get the automation done this pool could be marked finished. Then just the rest of the yard needs to be completed lol.

I ended up cleaning the spa myself. Gambled and drained it and just shopvacd all the sand out myself. Then blew out the lines and changed the filter and its sparkling. Pool is still a mess however. Hopefully have someone coming out to clean the pool friday. We're not going to put salt in until spring time, just no point turning the cells on when the water is to cold to generate chlorine. I have the pool pump running at about 1300 RPM just to keep water moving through this cold snap we have coming this weekend. Supposed to be in the lower 30s to upper 20s. Which is pretty uncommon from what neighbors are telling me. Last year I remember it being in the 80s on New Years.

It looks like the high winds tomorrow may cause some sound side flooding. I hope y’all do ok. Stay safe. 👍

Ditto! Both of Our area's aren't used to these below 0 windchills they're expecting so hope everyone prepared accordingly. Thankfully Im pretty high and dry and im on an interior lot, and water isnt too rough. But it is up over my pier. If it detached and floated away it would be doing me a favor lol and save me about 5k in demolition when they start the new one in spring. But im hearing about road closures all over due to flooding. IM sure the low areas of VB are suffering though (bay island, sand bridge, etc). Ive never seen the sound as rough as it is. Swells are like you are looking at the ocean. Pool got cleaned yesterday just in time for all the trees to blow about 500 pounds of leaves into it and more sand lol but much better than it was. Not looking forward to the cold either. But the condo association for our Tx place emailed saying to expect rolling blackouts, so it could be way worse.

Here’s hoping you stay dry and don’t lose power. 🤞

The wind is really whipping here (took down our next door neighbor’s new privacy fence). Tonight here in Hampton Roads we’re expecting it to get down to around 10° with below zero wind chill. 🥶🥶 There are scattered power outages, but we’re good so far. 🤞🤞

It’s been a little challenging keeping the pool tarp down in a couple places.

So some movement again. The outdoor kitchen got delivered, but for now is just sitting in crates in the garage. Fence and landscaping have made some good strides. Fence has a couple panels left off just to help with equipment movement but should get that closed up after sod is delivered. Water is not TPF clear yet, but 85% of the sand is gone and its at least not murky looking anymore. Still have no idea when pool equipment will be finished, pool guy is waiting for someone from Hayward to come help him as automation is apparently not in his wheel house.

Last week they started with the machines just tearing everything out, killing off everything, and trenching for sprinkler system. Another nice thing is my giant sand hill in the front yard is all but gone as it was used to regrade the back yard. Saved over 4k in dump fees.

Today they started plant placement. Tomorrow they are hoping to start on the paver walkways going along either side of the house to the pool deck (hoping they aren't too out of place next to concrete pool deck) Sod scheduled to be installed next Tuesday which is when im expecting the major wow factor. Then first week of Feb begins the landscape lighting and outdoor speakers. Only thing that wont be in for a bit are the Palms, which were ordered but dont come in until spring. Once they're done with the back yard they move to the front. Minor stuff should also be happening soon as long as we are truly through the worst of winter (might not be but been solid 50-60s for past couple weeks). Painting the railings, staining the wood decks, epoxy on the pool deck, etc. Also want to paint the fence on the right white to match the privacy fence. Would love to find a place that would install stainless cable railing but for now will settle for it just not peeling and for the new stuff to match.

Side note- when did electrical become so expensive lol. I about fell over when the first quote for lighting (low and line voltage) and audio out here was 44k (he also had a million of those little landscape speakers everywhere). We dwindled that down to about 25k but was def not expecting that. Now a major thing happening is they are trenching from the main panel to a new 100 amp sub panel for the new pier (75 foot run from panel to seawall). But that came in at about 7k. The lighting and in ground speakers are double what I was expecting even at reduced budget. But im a huge sucker for landscape lighting.

But for now I like it already just not being full of weeds, crab grass, and sand burs.

Mine took a couple weeks once the patio was finished and the grass came in to get the polished look. The couple of months before that was a loosing battle.

I feel ya. I called an aqauntance for a quote and he was thousands over the unmarked van company the PB used. That company was triple the cost of my 1st pool 8 years before.

Welp a different crew showed up today and they started on the front. lol, still happy things are moving along. as KK said any step forward is positive. But nobody does anything as planned :ROFLMAO: Right now its all mud, but honestly compared to what it was I will take it. When things get finished up im going to post some before and afters of outside, I found some pics of the house when we first bought it and can't believe how different it used to look. When things happen slowly over almost 3 years you kinda get used to the changes. They also dug the well today and got the pump installed. {entair 1 hp pump looks just like a pool pump without the strainer basket.

we also elected to do a small paver patio in front of this random door to nowhere which will be super nice. Then a 4 foot retaining wall will be installed which will make the area much nicer, instead of every time it rains the mud just overflowing into the sliding door.

I also can't wait for the cheap sliders to go. These things leak, a couple locks have broken on the others and the tracks constantly get dirty and bind up. But andersen still says were 5 months out for delivery.IMG_7327.jpgIMG_7326.jpgIMG_7325.jpgIMG_7322.jpgIMG_7321.jpg

We added a stair redo to the patio door which wasn't part of the original plans. (I was going to rebuild the basic lumber stairs). At the time I was miffed about another $2k with the budget long blown, but it REALLY ties it all in together. I had no idea how much I'd love it.

So quick plumbing question. Im finally going to get around to putting in a waste line tomorrow. Can I tie it into the black corrugated pipe that my gutter drain uses or should it have its own line run? If I need to bury a 2 inch pipe id like to do it now before they put down pavers and plants. Thanks!

Where does your gutter drain flow to?
