New construction in Houston, Tx ** Trying to complete punch list**

Also got the tv mount on the back of the grill installed. My wife warned me against installing the tv until the pool people are finished, I am sure she is right.

I do have one question. If they built this in June July or August the water would have been 80 degrees by itself. Knowing that really makes me wonder what the issue would be with hearing the water to 80 degrees when they finally finish the plaster next week? Why wait an extra 4 weeks?

You want to make sure that all the plaster dust is out of the pool. From what I understand, it can cake on the inside of the heat exchanger and ruin it. Then you're on the hook for a new heater.

My PB is telling me I can turn on the heater to around 85 after 2 weeks for the same reason(water is hotter than that here in the summer). I've had virtually 0 dust in the pool and minimal in the spa with the 4 bottles of startup tec they used. No matter how much I brush I'm not seeing a difference, feeling a difference, or seeing any plaster dust in the pool. The filter isn't showing much rise in psi after several days either.

I had very little dust in my pool as well. Sounds like about the same as you. My filter pressure didn't go up much at all. My PB had me wait a month, and I would have waited a month anyway, regardless of what they said. I didn't want to buy a new heater.

Oh man, we’re a few weeks out from pebble on our pool. I was hoping we’d be able to swim or use the hot tub within a couple of days as we could heat up the pool. Unless it’s going to be really warm, looks like maybe for Christmas we’ll be able to use the hot tub... argh! Not was I was told when we signed back on July 2nd.

My PB supposedly did an acid wash. I think it was more of an acid bath. I think they added like 4 gallons of muriatic acid the day after it was filled. They did nothing to my plaster once it was in. I started filling it 6 hours after they were finished, on their instruction.

I know some companies come back the next day and I am assuming, actually spray the finish down with a diluted muriatic acid solution to reveal more of the aggregate. Not sure how this affects the amount of plaster dust at startup.

That's a really long way to say, I'm not entirely sure.

Our plaster guys did a cool acid wash, they put some water in the deep end and a few jugs of acid. Then they used their pump to pump the acid mixture all over the pool through the big hose. Seemed a lot faster and easy to get an even acid wash over the whole pool vs manually taking the jug around.

My builder says realistically the filter is gonna do its job and protect anything from getting in the heater and messing it up. Not sure if I completely buy it but my heater will still have it's 3 year warranty anyways and I will enjoy the heated water lol

Plaster crew finally showed up yesterday afternoon, got started working on getting the pool ready and installing plumbing for the returns, after about 10 minutes of work they were rained out. Not a single cloud in the sky! Closest rain on the radar was in Sugarland(about 40 miles away)

Interesting, we're in north Houston and got plaster yesterday. Even rained slightly at the house and our crew didn't miss a beat. Hopefully you get it today. We're acid washing and filling today!

That's great! We are supposed to be the first stop this morning, but they are already a half an hour late. I was told that if they get the plaster in early enough they may try to acid wash this evening, if not it will be tomorrow.

They get it done quick. I think they were in/out in 3 hours yesterday so hopefully you experience the same.

Your pool looks great though! Been fun to watch your construction thread as mine has played out on nearly the same timeline (gunite and weather delays included) so been right there with ya.

They were late, but they were really fast once they got here. Had a happy little frog that had to be removed from the pool, but he has a new home in the garden. The plaster crew did a great job and it looks good.

I do have a leak from the spa into the pool that will need to be fixed. There is a small hole in the grout for the waterfall, hopefully an easy fix.
