New Build Wylie, TX

Your pool looks great! And you're right, the outline is similar to what we are doing. But one side of our pool will basically be a retaining wall because our yard is so sloped. Our HOA will not let us build up the yard and do a retaining wall with the fence on top like you have... which sucks because we are going to be looking directly into our neighbors yard when the pool is done.

Man the guys doing the paver decking very crazy fast. Pretty much got it all done except the joint sand.

My wife was a little freaked out on how gray the pavers looked I think was just all the dust from cutting so I hosed down a little section.

I do have a question. I had mastic in my contract but clearly they did not leave enough room between the deck and coping so I am thinking it will just be the joint sand. Is this a problem? I thought the mastic was not only for expansion but also to keep water from going under to the beam. I am waiting to hear back from the PB but thought I'd ask.

I also decided at 4:00pm on pretty much the hottest day of the year to go pick up my plants for the landscaping behind the pool. I went to the best nursery in our area but it was slim pickings this time of year on plant size. Would have liked a little larger plants. Playing around with the layout now. I was trying to not get so symmetrical but my OCD only allows for so much. These are all drought tolerant native Texas plants. All of the plants are flowering as well.

I am in LOVE with your decking! WOW! That looks SO pretty! THEN you went and rinsed and made it even better! SWEET!

I am unsure about the mastic and coping question. I will learn with you on this one.

Loving the plants! LOL on not being symmetrical. No matter how hard I try it always ends up that way :roll:just roll with what works for you!

Wow! Those pavers are looking awesome.... The color reminds me of when we had our stamped concrete done.... it had white dust everywhere and we were like "this isn't the color its supposed to be" but then we rinsed(and later stained) and everything worked out.

Thanks everyone! We are glad to finally get this step done after weeks of waiting due to rain. My PB said we are about 2 weeks (best case) from swimming. Nice to be getting close to completion!

Good news pavers are done and yard has been graded! Bad news lots of rain in the forecast so no idea when plaster will take place.

Finally got to get my new grill out of the garage. Almost killed me and my neighbor getting it on the deck!

The pavers are GORGEOUS!! Great choice! We are having rain too and that means no coping installed today. I'm so sad!

Love the grill too! My husband is an avid "smoker" and we have a grill and a separate Pit Barrel Smoker that he loves.

Little update. Electrical roughed in on the pergola. I've planted all the landscape (whew that was rough!). Fence is being put back today. Oh and we just found out plaster tomorrow!!! I'm so excited it's like Christmas Eve when I was a kid! They said they do the plaster wait 5 hours come back the same day and do the acid wash. If all this happens we will just beat the rain in the forecast next week. They said we need to wait 3 days from fill to get in the pool. That's going to be tough with the kids!

You're lucky to be getting it done before the rain. I'm just going to post an update on my build. Rock guys aren't starting until tomorrow. And since part of our pool is elevated it will take them a week to do the rock/stone on the sides and do the coping. I'm sure this will be delayed with all the rain coming our way.

Yeah the rain cost us a few weeks throughout our build mainely stalling the decking. It's crazy two things you can usually expect in North Texas summer is it's hot and dry. It's great to get as much rain as we've had but sucks when you're building a pool.

Good job Mcow...all looking really good. Plus you can practice brushing your new pavers so when the pool is ready you will have it down :)

I am wondering why you can't start filling your pool after you acid wash it. Our pb acid washed our pool immediately after the plaster was put on and smoothed out and then he started putting water in the pool a couple of hours later. As I recall the pool was plastered in the morning following the acid wash to expose pebbles and take the cream off and then we started filling the pool in the evening. I wonder if our pb did not follow the correct install of the plaster however it is 8 plus years and we have not have any problems:cheers:
