The XF will take 2.5" pipe on the inside or a 3" coupling to the outside of the union.

You will need to make sure that all suction plumbing is big enough. Depending on the number of lines, you should probably use 2.5” or 3” plumbing.

You should go to a 420 square foot filter. You might want to use a spring check valve to bypass the heat pump and the SWG cell.

Make sure that the various return lines are valved so that you can control the flow to each feature.

Make sure that the plumbing to each feature is sufficient to provide the necessary flow without exceeding a water velocity of 8 feet per second. All suction lines should be sized to keep the water velocity below 6 feet per second.

What do you guys think of this response?
“We use 2” lines and you will have no issues getting the best flow to the spa spillway because we use more returns (4) than most builders giving the pool and spa more circulation and water flow. The pump allows you to control the speed and flow of the water to the features.

If that is true, why does the pump have 3" plumbing???

Not sure about where you live, but all new pools around here have 4 or more returns.. It is nothing out of the ordinary or "special"...

High flow requires larger pipes.

For suction lines, use 6 ft/sec. For return lines, use 8 ft/sec.

So, it depends on the maximum amount of flow that you will need and how many lines you have.

For the suction, you should combine the individual lines into a 2.5" or 3" manifold in front of the pump.

The individual lines should be at least 2".

Each skimmer should have its own line all the way to the equipment.

Do you know the maximum amount of flow that you will require?

Do you know the number and size of the individual suction and return lines?

How far will the equipment be from the pool?

If the equipment will be far from the pool or higher than the pool, then you should increase the pipe size at least one size up.

I would go with a 420 square foot cartridge filter.

I am working on your TDH now
Your pool will work fine with one XF pump and 2 in lines.
We do not use larger pipes because we only ever use 2 in lines. And once you go past 2in lines the price triples per pipe and fittings. Plus the tools we have will not work on them. Which means a lot more added cost in material and labor.
So the added cost is not worth it. We have done a couple in the past and what we have come up with for a better option is when the pool/spa and water features are over a total of 130 GPM we add a second pump instead of increasing the pump. Which is saves the customer money and is more efficient.
Your pool is only coming in at 100 GPM.
Here is your break down.
Pool 40 GPM
Bubblers 20 GPM
Trickle spillway 40 GPM
Total 100 GPM

I would suggest:

Pool:

(2) Skimmers, each with a 2" line to the equipment pad.

Main drain: 2.5" line to the equipment pad.

3" manifold going into the pump.

Spa:
If there's only the main drain line, use 3" for suction and return. Branch returns as needed.

A 420 square foot cartridge filter.

A 5 psi check valve bypass to bypass excessive flow around the cell and the heat pump.

Run out there and grab all of the paperwork so you can have it for just in case. I have a folder just for Pool stuff. It has paid off a few times.

Take lots of pictures of everything. Take pictures of box labels. Take pictures of the construction at every stage from every angle. Document everything. Take pictures of receipts and delivery paperwork. Register the equipment with the manufacturer once the work is completed.

Awesome suggestions! We are still worried about the hot tub sticking into the pool so much it’s 3 feet. I wonder if they have wiggle room to move it back just a foot as we have the space or would that require the permit to be updated and a change order? We’re going to give them a ring first thing Monday morning. Cutting it close! The pool finish picture is Tahoe blue from another pool they did and that’s what we picked also.

2 days of work and they are kicking butt. Pool shell is happening this Friday weather permitting.

SWEET! Now don't get used to this fast pace. Once the shell is shot things might slow down some. Don't want to rain on your parade but you need to know so you don't get disappointed if it does slow down.

So far so good. It rained last night but didn’t cause any washouts. When can I walk on this bad boy?!

It can be walked on very soon. Later today will be fine. Did they give you watering instructions? Water it several times per day. A good soaking each time. This helps to slow the curing down and creates a stronger shell. Start watering this evening if it's sunny and tomorrow if its cloudy today.
