Yeah, I hear you on the patio part. I was just tired of the mud during my build. Mud everywhere. And the dog was constantly walking through it, regardless of the fact that she had a nice grassy area to stay in.

You and me both! I actually had to buy a new utility sink for my garage I was bathing the dog so much!
They should be setting the equipment on the pad and hooking it up to the plumbing soon. What do I need to look out for when they are doing that. What are the best practices and nice to haves at this step?

Anyone have experience with a stamped overlay like the picture? I’m curious on the price per sqft in Central Texas. My pool builder is going to use a sundek type (acrylic) overlay but saying it is significantly more expensive to do a stamped pattern which I don’t follow the logic on. They are pouring a new deck but it will tie into existing concrete and the overlay will be applied to both.
Also, how long should an overlay like this last?

What is the coping rock you went with? And the stacked stone, is that real stone or faux? I am worried about picking flagstone with SWG. Love your pool design, very similar to what we are looking at.
Thanks! We love it too. We used Fossil Creek Patio stone. It could also be called New Mexico Patio stone depending on the supplier. We went back and forth between that and travertine for the coping but went with this because it is much more slip resistant. That was very important to us with small kids who will be walking on top of the coping on the raised wall when jumping into the pool ( just to be clear, I will be doing that as well!)
This stone is one of the most dense patio stone varieties that we could find and will hopefully hold up well with the SWG. Time will tell.
The vertical surfaces are split face travertine Ivory color from NPT. It is real stone but comes in pre-made sheets they fit together when installing. We used the 7”x20” variety. Hope that helps!
Can't help you with price of the different ways of doing decking but it would be hard to pick between the two you showed! What I would do is call "plain" patio makers and see what they say and go from there.

Walking???? In what world will a child be walking any where ???? LOL Being a retired Kdg teacher I know for a fact they don't walk. They twirl, spin, run, sprint, etc every where!

Ha, yeah, that’s the truth! Another reason to have as much traction as possible!
Patio was back filled with road base and rebar set. Waiting on city inspector to come and okay the rebar and bonding and we should be pouring the patio on Monday! I can not wait!!! Tired of the dust and mud. I think my dog will miss it though, haha

That looks great. Love the shape of it! Make sure they put something under the steel to lift it up off the ground. Some people use broken up bricks or purchase "chairs" for it to sit on. Does not matter so long as it is off the ground so it is in the middle of the concrete!

Thank you! It’s a lot, definitely over 1000 sqft. We made some changes from the original so not sure on the exact amount. I’ll bust out the plan tomorrow and see how close I am
