I bought one of the Taylor test kits. When they 1st came they put in 6lbs of chlorine however I haven’t heard anything else.. have found multiple chlorine tablets (6) put in the skimmer basket though (about the size of a hockey puck)

I'm still on the drain it, refill it, clean it while empty bandwagon, then throw the liquid chlorine to it to keep it clear until contractor gets to it. Water is cheap in South Carolina. You are wasting a bunch of time it sounds like you don't have trying to do this.
some stuff is going to make the cloudiness worse, cal hypo, floc, etc.
Draining is the only guaranteeed way to get clear water in less than 30 days.

If you can drain and refill the pool, then do that and forget all this chemistry stuff. As soon as the fresh water is in the pool, take a picture for the insurance company.
We generally ban the magic potions with copper sulfate, which stain pool surfaces, and floc, which can ruin filters.
You have a very special case.
Yellow Out and Green To Clean do bad things to your pool. But if you are going to drain it and chip out the plaster, it does not matter.

We are concerned about draining as we are in a flood zone and right across from a tidal creek and we are unsure about opening the hydro pressure valves ourselves and because we have no idea where our main drain even is because we can’t see itJust about.

Contractor starts in a week (will likely be pushing that back as we need clean water by June 1st.
Insurance company states “adequately maintained” which means clean water. Likely due to drowning risk with inability to see bottom.

Not following this concern. Put a portable sump pump in it and pump it out if you don't know where main drain is. Route your hose to wherever you feel comfortable draining the water to. Nothing in the pool water is going to damage anything living in the tidal creek.

@JamesW @JoyfulNoise, what are your thoughts about tossing some copper sulfate into this pool to help clear the algae ASAP? The OP needs to get the pool clear to see the bottom for insurance purposes, and the pool is going to be drained and replastered in a month.
Check out the no drain water exchange process. It’s done with a separate pump and a hose and not your equipment. You basically drain and fill at the same time so water always stays in the pool but the dirty stuff gets pumped out while the new stuff is filling.

I know the consensus is that copper is bad but I was also curious about this as everything is going to be re-done in a few weeks anyways. I was concerned about it ruining the concrete/gunite though as my plaster is delaminating and was also concerned about the metal light as it apparently corrodes metal?

Read the details a few times. There’s some tricks to avoid losing too much fresh water in the process depending on temperature, TDS, and a few other things.
