Mastertemp Frozen Screen

5 year old Pentair Mastertemp fires up for about 10-20 seconds then shuts off, service light illuminates and screen is frozen. No response from the buttons and no error code on the screen. Turn break off and then back on and the process repeats itself.

First thought is bad PCB board as it’s a very common replacement on Mastertemp, but any other ideas ??

Could simple be a bad keypad when it does not respond to the buttons and then a different problem with the Service Heater fault.

I would replace the $10 keypad before the PCB.

Does the MasterTemp have a 5 button or 6 button keypad?

5 button keypad heaters do not display errors on the screen. You need to flip the board over and check LEDs on the board or Fenwal.
