Lowering CYA levels Efficiently via Pool Thermocline Exchange

Hey folks.

I saw a post on youtube about a guy lowering his CYA levels substantially in 1 day by creating a Thermocline in his pool. The idea is fill the pool by putting a hose slowly releasing water at the deep end of the pool, while at the same time draining water with a pump at the shallow end (on the 1st pool step).

Old Warm water with high CYA levels rises to the surface and will be the first to be drained via the submersible pump.

Thoughts on this strategy?

Well documented and used on the forum. But it is a little more complicated that just warm vs cold water. You have to take into account TDS/salt content in the pool as it tends to be larger than the fill water. Here are a few references:
