Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

But did they get the direction correct on the compass?

What size coping did you go with? 12x24? 16x24?

16x24.. mainly because I have the raised bond beam, and 12" wide would not have worked with a 1.5 inch over hang. Behind the bond beam is a planter so the overhang off the back is no problem... and as far as he over hang on the back of the coping.. they just filled it. I like the look of the wider coping too.

I'm going to post the finished version a bit later.. I had the corners taken off.. looks amazing..

That stone is gorgeous. I have a hunch its not for freeze thaw cycles in Michigan, but if by some miracle it is, I feel like ripping my concrete out ;)

Thanks! everyone who is seeing it loves it.. Not sure about the freeze cycles though.. we do get below freezing in the winter here, but nothing like your winters... it is a pretty soft stone.. since it is all just coral.

The finished coping..

and some of the deck...

Plastering today!!!
Finally, I can't believe that I am finally getting water tomorrow...

They are going to acid wash this afternoon.... then filling with hose for a while to get about 12 inches in pool (mainly to protect pool for water fill tomorrow}.

This pool is a favorite of mine, for the color choices, materials and compass rose. My next plaster job will include a compass rose - should have been bold enough to do it the first time. The color contrast on that is awesome!

Thank you very much! I don't have anyone really to bounce ideas or choices off of, so the buck stops here. I appreciate that you have the same taste!

Please tell me they are not going to fill it to 12" then stop...........that is NOT a good thing. The water should not stop at any time while it is filling. If you stop the flow of water it can cause a line on your plaster. Even with just one hose going it will be adding enough to keep that from happening.

No... that's just the estimate as to where the water will be by 6:30 am :) I wanted to wait and just have it filled at once in the morning, but the plaster guy was adamant about putting some water in the bottom to help protect from the water flow tomorrow. I will have to estimate the difference now, since the guys filling it will have an exact count of gallons they put in.

Okay....whew...........I was so worried! LOL So the water will be flowing the whole time. GOOD! They want to have a "cushion" of water for when they add the water. Where will this other water come from? I am guessing it is a large amount of water that will be flowing at a fast rate of speed. I would have it spraying up into the air to help keep it from "pushing" the new plaster. Your plaster guy has the right idea and I am sure he will set it up the correct way.

It will come from the fire hydrant... and fill the pool in two hours or less.. :)

As an aside, I am about 52 days from plans to water. I could have done it quicker if I didn't have to wait for 23K pounds of stone to get here, and I waited so late to order my special order tile too...

But overall I am happy that I did it within 60 days, without rushing. I think realistically it could have been done in less than 40 days easily if I had decided on the stone and tile a lot sooner.

That IS fast! WOW! Just know the water will have a green tint to it for a couple/few days until you get the water all balanced.

Now for something to do tonight when you watch water go into your wonderful pool you can fill out your siggy (setting-upper right, edit signature-middle left) put in your pool kind and size, equipment kind/size, special feature, test kit, etc.

What are the round white plastic inserts? all for umbrellas? Also, why did you take the edge off of the coping? safety? is that common?

The open ones are for pop up in-ground cleaners, the two that are closed are for umbrellas. Can't put the in-ground cleaning to work for two weeks, otherwise it will leave marks in the plaster.

I too off the edge because I felt the edges were too sharp, yes some safety concern. Also, sitting on the edge of the pool, the rounded is more comfortable. And now I like the look.

Wow, the compass turned out perfect with the blue and black. That's a beautiful touch. Well done!

Its actually dark blue, but it does look better than I thought it would. Thank you!!
