Is this a good VS Pump Hayward

You may need to do some plumbing changes. Also be sure to use pump unions. Those are different than the standard unions found at Home Depot.

What speed do you think is sufficient? I would rather run longer at a lower speed to if I had to. Seems the most efficient. As long as my pool vacuum is moving around.

As you add liquid chlorine manually, the only concern you have is skimming the surface. So run the pump at the rpm needed to achieve that. Start with 1500 rpm. See if that keeps it clean. Then either go up or down a couple hundred rpm and see how it works.

I think that’s the same pump I have, it’s a 2.7hp VS and I like it. Moves a lot of water and doesn’t use a lot of energy.

Might price online stores also, I bought mine at Dohmmeys, they had the best price then. Came in 2 days

Here in central fla Tristars everywhere, single speed, two speed and VS's. Durable and easy to service. The biggest pool builder in this area is all they use. I believe the wet end portion hasn't changed through the years.
