Is that Algae?

Great about the pool stuffs 👍🏻
Just wondering if the “debris” turned grey or white. If not it’s probably just stuff that’s falling in the pool.
No, it just makes little lines as shown in the video and then when I brush it it spoofs/disappears. Want me to take another video?

I just went to take a look again and it spoofs so easily and it doesn't look like it's slimy at all, just maybe some very small dirt. Could algae spoof like that? And this debris is ONLY at the bottom of the pool, not on the side or ladder or anywhere else.

Should I really keep slamming? I've seen no difference since slamming, maybe a little less debris at the bottom of the pool, but that could be because the filter has been running 24/7 and I've been vacuuming the pool.

You’re almost there!
Remember that a clear pool can have nascent algae consuming your chlorine. (Which I suspect was your case all along) That’s why there’s 3 end of slam/need to slam criteria not just basing things on how it looks. There are many clear pools/ clear water that isn’t sanitary.
I know this sucks but a 2 day slam with a clear pool is a whole lot easier than trying to clean up a green swamp. If you hadn’t of been supplementing & running your swg too you would’ve already had one, it was only a matter of time.
Let’s pass the
Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to be certain you’re in the clear & can start your trouble free pool life!
For tonight try this to be as consistent & accurate as possible:
Do your last dose of the day then let it circulate 30 minutes or so before getting your sample for the oclt. It’s possible last night it just wasn’t mixed quite all the way.
If you’re not exactly at slam level that’s fine. Then when doing the tests try to stick to uniform drops 💧 (don’t squeeze the bottle, let them come out) about a drop per second (this also makes it easier for counting cuz there’s a rhythm). No long pauses between drops. Immediately write down your number of drops or say it out loud. Then do the math after.
Do the same things the same way in the am.
I suspect you really passed last night but its easy to lose track when counting all those drops!

I count the drops just like I count money. I say the 10’s louder so I don’t lose track of where I am & I repeat my final number so it sticks in my brain. Then I walk around saying the final number until I do the math & record it - my family thinks I’m crazy 😜 but they enjoy their clear clean pool so they don’t give me too much trouble with it.

Hahahah I can confirm that my wife thinks I'm crazy too with this pool.

Sounds good, question! I need to leave my house at 7:30pm tonight and the sun doesn't set till 7:50pm...I won't be back until 10pm. How should I approach this?

So long as you have about 8 hours inbetween the tests & it’s dark you’re good.

Finally at 31! I'll test once more before I leave and then start the overnight test at 10pm.

If I pass the overnight test and yet I still see that debris, it means that it's NOT algae, right?

At 25 and above, can it still kill the algae or I NEED to be at 31 the WHOLE day?
You're killing algae anywhere above minimum FC for your CYA level. It gets more and more efficient up to SLAM level (31). You're still whooping butt at 25, just not quite as great as 31. :)

I’m really intrigued what the black dust is at the bottom of the pool because there is still some left a little bit… it really just spoof when I brush it or try to skim it.

Morning!

7:38pm - FC 34.5
10:03pm - FC 34
6:11am - FC 32

I'm really at a loss here.....Am I doing something wrong...So frustrating.

Two things deplete FC. The sun, and organics. The OCLT removes the sun from the equation.

This time of year is tricky for all of us as pollen and other tree cruds can look and feel like algae. So we look to the testing. Is it one or the other, or both where it starts with a loss and ends with no loss but still visible.

I have my neighbor's tree right by my fence which is 4 feet away from my pool. I do get bugs, leaves, and other little things that fall from that tree into my pool.

Should I keep SLAMming? What do I do...I've been slamming for more than 48hrs. I'm starting to get crazy and think I'm doing my tests wrong....
