Inground pool with liner not opened for 12 years 😳

Hi. Need to follow this project.

I’m right down the street from you in Durham. A couple of comments.

I don’t know which pool company you called, but I highly recommend Northern pool and spa in Eliot Maine. They are absolutely wonderful and honest. They built our pool and we never deal with anyone else. When we built our pool I talked to everybody who had one to get recommendations. One company was too expensive, one company promised the world and delivered half built pools, etc.. The only company that had consistently good reviews was Northern Pool & Spa. Of course they may be the ones that are busy till August or you may find they’re busy till August also, but absolutely worth a call.

When you get to the point of buying massive amts of chlorine, Ocean State has 12.5% liquid chlorine for $5.99/gallon. It’s always fresh and I’ve never seen them run out. You might find it cheaper elsewhere. I haven’t, but I have a SWG, so I don’t buy a lot and I haven’t searched far and wide. Don’t buy Ocean States stabilizer though. It is about 1/4 of the strength advertised.

My neighbor's pool had trees growing through the liner there were about 12 ft tall. They managed to get the pool up and running in a few months. I like the frogs I usually only find dead ones in my skimmer so it's nice to see some nice lively ones.

Hi neighbor! Wow. Thank you so much for all of that info! I have an electrician coming Thursday to look at the outlet for the filter. Hopefully Northern pool and spa can help me. You're the best 🙌

I found you at last!! We got a ring side seat for this adventure!

Liner-I am afraid you need to take a peek in your wallet to see if there is a dollar or 3 in there to replace the liner.

Power to the outlet. Have you found the breaker box yet? See if that breaker is on or off
Hi! Yes, I've accepted that I need a new liner. So, the breaker was on and I even tried a few switches in the garage that seemingly don't do anything and still no dice. I have an electrician coming Thursday.

So, little discouraged. Pool guy said he can do a liner for 6400 but has no idea if the plumbing needs to be redone or what kind of damage could be lurking underneath. It is an old pool so he suggested at one point just getting a new one. That's not in our budget so he said if I can get the filter up and running and I'm not losing any water than he'll just replace the liner. I'm hoping those pipes are still good. 🤞 if plumbing is fine and I just need a new pump and filter, that's about another 3000. He quoted me 6500 to demolish it. 🥲

Pressure testing the plumbing has nothing to do with "filter running or not". Get someone that will figure out how to pressure test the complete "pipe system". Equipment is all external so replacement is what it is and should you move forward on a liner has nothing to do with equipment but all to do plumbing you don't have access to nor see.
