I feel like this isn't working. I'm rechecking the cya to make sure I'm using the correct slam level. I can still see green in hard to get to brushing areas. And I can't get it to stay around the 16 it's supposed to be.
You have only been at this 3 days. That it won't stay at 16 is a good thing, it means the chlorine is being used up killing the bad stuff in your water.

Here is what you need to concentrate on:

Test FC
Add bleach to increase FC back to 16
Wait one hour
Test FC
Add bleach to increase FC back to 16
Test FC
Add bleach to increase FC back to 16
Test FC
Add bleach to increase FC back to 16

Somewhere in there brush the pool at least once a day. If you see the algae, try to concentrating the brushing in it. The algae can develop a bio-film that is resistant to the chlorine, but brushing breaks this down and allows the chlorine to kill the algae.

POP - Pool Owner Patience. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Re: When is the slam done?

The 3 criteria are:
- Water clear
- CCs .5 or less
- Pass the overnight (OCLT) test (no loss of more than 1 ppm of FC overnight)

3 weeks is a long time. If you have any history on the SLAM you've been doing, or another thread posted, we'll look or try to assist.

I think this is your other thread: I need help with algae! - Page 3 I'll take a look.

Re: When is the slam done?

Heather, I just re-read your other thread and see if you received a lot of great advise in early April when you first started, then it sounded like you may have to break for a while for a funeral. The last post was on the 10th. So if you have some specific updates for us, let us know what's happening okay. Yippee, Mr. Bruce, and many others who watch will be happy to continue helping. For efficiencies' sake, I'm going to combine this thread with your old one okay? It's best we keep everything together.
