Good morning.

Not sure if we are done here!

Last night's FC at 7:30p was 8.5. Added chlorine per calculator

This am's FC is 8.5
CC was .75 (technically .25 too high per guides)
Adding both for FC of 9.25

So, the overnight loss test is good, pool is so clear I can the that the screws on the drain cap are phillips head - but CC is .75 (not .5)

I proceeded with chlorine to meet slam levels.

Let me know your thoughts. Not afraid to see this out through the day or if you feel those #'s are acceptable!

If you were at 8.5 last night and added chlorine AFTER testing that number, then you lost all that chlorine overnight since you tested at 8.5 again this morning. That would be a fail on OCLT.

Oh - I understand- meaning that if I’m adding to meet a slam level of 16, I need to be at 15 at least this AM. Correct?

What a great thread to read! New pool owner drops in asking for help. Help, good help, was given over a course of many days. Great results are being seen by pool owner. Pool owner is following directions and asking many great questions=a clear pool.

If you want to use the pool during the day you can add just enough chlorine to get the FC to just under slam level for your current CYA levels.

Remember that adding water will lower your CYA levels. With your leak and our Florida rains you might need to keep a closer eye on CYA than the average non-Florida person would.

You got this and there is not going back now. The only thing you need to do now is to give notice to your pool company. With your test kit you will be able to care for your pool on you own much cheaper than using them. Once you get everything dialed in you will find pool care OH SO EASY and quick.

Ok - update - I am going to do what I think/hope might be the last test tonight and tomorrow AM. Looking at the doc @Mdragger88 shared above I wasn't doing the a test 30 mins after the PM add. I'll prob have to do it a bit later than 8 as the sun is still up. But my past two am tests have been 15/16 ppm.

Also as @kimkats said above I will need to be transitioning into maintenance. And yes I do have a leak which needs to be addressed. Between the florida rains and the leak, there is a lot of new water being added weekly. Perfect storm .

Ok all - I think I've passed the test here.

Tested and added required chlorine last night at sundown. Checked again 30 min after and chlorine was at Slam level of 16.

This morning at dawn I checked chlorine and it was still at slam level. CC test BARELY had a hint of pink after 5 drops of solution. It disappeared with one drops of r0871. So - I'd say it was a .5 at most. Giving me a total FC of 16.5

I think that plus the pool clarity means I'm done??? @PoolStored @Mdragger88

For clarification you have
Fc 16
Cc 0.5 which 🟰 TC 16.5

If the water is also crystal clear with no algae (dead or alive) you are done ✅

Yes to everything but the comment about algae. What would dead or alive algae look like? Pool crystal clear and has been for 5 days at this point! Never been so blue and crisp. It's unbelievable. Got a little yellow pollen dust a few days ago, but that was skimmed up and discarded.

Where can you advise I go next on this site for 101 pool maintenance?

Recurrent accumulation on the bottom- alive stuff is usually a color - dead stuff is usually white/greyish
Algae (dead or alive) “poofs” when brushed

Sounds good 👍🏻

Thank you @Mdragger88 @PoolStored

I feel I should get like a graduation cap.

I appreciate all your advise and help. I'm dissapointed that I can't get people in person here in Central Florida who could assess what was going on and come up with a process and procedure to get me out of this mess, but you folks did with a basic description and a photo. I'm back on my feet now and very grateful.

I have to also now focus on my leaks as @kimkats mentioned. One step at a time. I feel I'm in the right place though!

You have officially graduated from Never Use Floc Again academy
& SLAM school 🎓
but Let’s see what @PoolStored says about your underlying iron/metals issue.
Did you ever add any sequestrant after your vit c addition in the beginning of this journey?
Did any of the stains return as a result of the slam/high fc?
You say its blue now - got a pic?
