The builder told me not to. Said it was built to withstand. So I’m not going to mess with it. We will just hope for the best. I lowered the water to about 2 inches below the tiles. 6 from where it sits normally.

Can I add FC without the pump running? I have it switched off at the breakers and I’m not turning it back on again.
 
Hey all - looking for some guidance as we get prepared for Hurricane Ian. Shame on me for being late here, but am trying to figure out an easy way to drain my pool. I do not have a spigot or any way to drain using the pump. The only method I can logically see is to use the drain plug on the cartridge filter? I believe it is 1/2" PVC fitting and I may be able to find a 1/2" to garden hose adapter?

Any other methods or suggestions? I was thinking of creating a siphon with a shop-vac as well, but not sure gravity will be in my favor.

Open to ideas - I cannot run to the stores right now, unfortunately, due to the hurricane status. I'll need to be better prepared next time :)

I am in Orlando, The pool cage was just completed. Should I try to take out some of the screens or the doors?
 
I'm with Jim that it should be an all/none situation. Otherwise it's a darned if you do/don't situation. If you remove some screens, it will allow big gusts in to hit the screens on the opposing side with considerable force. If you remove all the wall screens, the top is a parachute by itself.

Hopefully the wind direction is favorable to its placement behind the house.
 
Leave them closed, screens can be replaced by a DIY er, EXCEPT THE ONES ON TOP , leave that to the screens pros, DON"T REMOVE the screens and flat spline that hold them in place you'll never be able to reuse them.

Thank you. I’m here alone with 2 kids as my husband is on emergency call at the hospital.

I brought the pool FC up, lowered the water and I have a sump pump and generator on hand. Secured all the furnishings. We have good drainage around the house so not too worried about that. Mostly just worried about the pool cage.

Sounds like you have addressed your all pool issues and your husband will should be very proud of your efforts .....Now just HUNKER down like the rest of us....Hopefully this storm will calm down some as it comes across the state .Good luck.

At the end of it all if the only issue is a green pool that's a win so don't worry about it too much. We can help you clear that up in a week.
Family 1st and pool not even on the same map :)
