Well, jumped the gun and dumped CYA granules directly around my pool (not in filter or via the sock method) and now they are all sitting on the bottom of the pool. What are everyone's thoughts? Let them sit before vacuuming? If so, how long would you recommend? Or should I vacuum right now and consider it a loss? If so, how long to wait to test?

You should vacuum them up or brush them to dissolve them NOW. They can and will stain the pool surface.

Thanks - great tip. I will take note of the specifics and try to update that information soon! I'm excited to be on this forum - so helpful. We opened our pool last year and never had a problem balancing chemicals and levels. Thanks so much - the I tried brushing them and they just float around so the vacuum is running around the pool right now to suck them up. I guess I should wait a couple of days to retest the levels before trying this again? Maybe some of it already dissolved and I just don't realize it?

Let the vacuum run around with it for a while and don't clean out the vacuum filter for another day or so. Eventually it'll end up in the water chemistry.

The CYA vacuumed up won't be a loss. It will dissolve and will be in the water in about a week.
