How do I replace the Easy Touch Pentair 521103

My EasyTouch 521247 unit has finally died and I need a replacement. Are these still available, and if not, what is the new unit I need? Seems like the Pentair IntelliCenter Load Center System with i5PS Personality Kit is a very expensive alternative. Any other options available to me?

Doc,

That sounds like a bad relay driver.. It can be fixed..

Let's see what Tom has to say... Calling @ogdento

You can also use the old cabinet and relays you have, and upgrade to the new IntelliCenter for about $1100 bucks..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Just want to confirm that this was a compool to Easytouch upgrade? (that's what I get when I google part number 521247). attach a pic if you can

and when you say "heater button remains on"... are you saying the LED is on for the heater, the heater itself won't stop running, you can't press the heater button and change it from on to off (or vice versa), or all of the above?

Not if it is in a Compool cabinet and was upgraded to the EasyTouch.

Dr. Mike, show us a picture of your EasyTouch system.

Yeah, the led light stays on and the heater is running even when it is in Auto mode and I don't want the heater on. The light stays on and the heater runs even when I push the button to try and turn it off. Here is a pic of the unit. Thanks for your help.#521103.jpg

Doc,

I suspect that Tom @ogdento could fix that for you, but not sure..

PM him and see what he says...

For sure the IntelliCenter upgrade kit will not work for you, as you don't have the normal EasyTouch enclosure..

Thanks,

Jim R.

You will need a full IntelliCenter system. The IntelliCenter upgrade or Lite will not replace wheat you have.

Since you've got the compool upgrade your board looks like this:

as Jim said, the relay drivers (UNL2803) are likely the issue but they're soldered onto these boards... thanks Pentair! I highlighted them in red. If you're handy with surface mount soldering you can replace them, or yeah, PM me.

and as Allen said, you'll need a whole new load center for the Intellicenter - but I think you may have already known that since you mentioned it at the beginning.

OK, looks like this is a pretty old device and no sense throwing good money after bad so it looks like I'll be buying and installing an entirely new upgraded system. What do you recommend? Would it be cheaper for me to purchase it online and hire an installer or have him buy and install the system together?

Price it out both ways. Some installers will work with what you provided and others will not.

Hey @ajw22 or @Jimrahbe do you guys remember a thread where a heater wouldn't shut off because the temp sensor had died? Or am I dreaming?

I've got @Dr. Mike 's board and it looks ok on the bench, with a 10k resistor block for temp sensors. I can turn the heat on/off and the relay drivers tested good.

Nope. A water temp sensor giving incorrect readings may keep the heater running. If the ET sees the temp sensor is open then it will not close the heater relay.

Sounds like you need to make a house call.

Hey Jim, and Tom @ogdento

I sent my mother board to Tom and he fixed it for me for pennies on the dollar. I plugged it all back together and th system works perfect. Tom saved my thousands $$$$$. Thanks so much for your assistance.
