I've never seen that. Turn the pump on and see what happens. May be a valve that adjusts flow from that port as it may be a dedicated suction line. That's how I would find out.

It runs perfectly fine and it provides no suction or anything. I was just curious if anyone has seen this before and what it might be, because I can’t find anything online. It’s a threaded pipe as well so I was going to try plugging it and see what happens. This house is from the 70’s and as far as I know the pool is original.
