lol makes sense! Well the salt cell failed the test so I will get it replaced. You have 2 people in your relationship. The Test kit and the cell. Leslie's is nothing but a homewrecker.
What does the cell say ?
Yes using TFP kit and reagents and salt speed stir.mom,
What salt test kit are you using at home?? If a Taylor kit, and using a speed-stir, then I'd trust your own readings..
There is a 50/50 chance that Leslie's is wrong, no matter what chemicals they are testing...
I would also think that your SWCG will work just fine at 3200...
Thanks,
Jim R.
Yes. I’ll see how I can add it to my signature. I’m using all TFP methods and testingTrust your own testing. Are you using the Taylor K-1766 salt tester? I don't see it in your signature.
Whoa whoa whoa. How did it fail ? Low or high salt ? It may be something silly or something medium bad but not terrible, like a sensorWell the salt cell failed the test so I will get it replaced.
I kept getting a troubleshoot light on the box. I took the cell to Leslie’s since it was purchased 1 year or so ago and they checked it and said it wasn’t working so need to get it replaced under warranty.Whoa whoa whoa. How did it fail ? Let me ask you do I go and add cya or do I wait until I get the salt cell replaced? I do have liquid chlorine to keep it a cya/fc ratio levels. Please advice.Ok. You can spend *their* money all day everyday if they're willing to replace it. Before you ever spend your own, come check first.![]()
Sorry can you re explain?Add 10 to get to 30 CYA. Then Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. (Can be done while CYA is soaking or even before if you dont have leftover CYA) Each 10 CYA raises slam FC by +4. You'd rather slam at 12 FC than 28 FC (70 CYA) and nows the time to prove it won't be needed.
Ok so I I fail the OCLT then I do slam until I pass using the cya of 30/fc ratio correct? You will want 70 CYA for the SWG.
Never raise CYA significantly without passing the OCLT, even with clear water. Higher CYA slams eat through chlorine which stinks for you and your wallet.
Slam needs 30 CYA min so you can add 10 CYA to the existing 20 per your poolmath logs. This is independent of needing the OCLT if you dont have CYA on hand.
If you pass the OCLT you can add in stages of CYA so you are ready to go with 70 CYA when the new cell arrives.

Yes.If I pass, add the rest of cya now or wait until I get the new salt cell?
So I tested this morning but the pool was already running for maybe 45-50 min but the fc went from 4.5 to 5.5, tomorrow I will try to get up by 5 am before the pool runs and will do the overnight chorine test again. But it seems I don’t have contaminants in the pool as of now.Yes.(assuming you add 10 CYA)
Yes.I'd prefer to have less time without a SWG, but no harm comes in waiting. You do want the 30 CYA either way though.
Was the old SWG off ? Or is this a typo?but the fc went from 4.5 to 5.5,
Shut the cell off or unplug it. Get a baseline test after dark. Then get the other test in the morning. You dont have to run the pump overnight, but if you do, it'll save some sleep because you can just roll out of bed and test.I will try to get up by 5 am before the pool runs and will do the overnight chorine test again
Yup. Aim a little low just in case and creep up the last bit.So basically replace the salt cell then add the rest of the cya correct?
So I connected the current swg while I wait to get the new one delivered then do the exchange because we are using the pool this weekend and wanted to run the pool system. So came home and hooked it back on. I took the reading last night one hour after I added 1 gallon of the cya. Turned off the system. The system is set to turn on around 6 am. I took this mornings test to compare at 7 ish.Was the old SWG off ? Or is this a typo?

Ok. Whoops. If any FC is added you won't see a loss (if its there). The system is set to turn on around 6 am. I took this mornings test to compare at 7 ish.
