After a fire I am trying to identify the parts. What is this part on the left of the sand filter? It was on the return line. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming you are talking about the electrical motor, it is a booster pump used to drive a pressure side cleaner.
That said, you can't just post pics like that and not tell us the "Rest of the story"...

It was an EcoStar VSP that decided it wanted no more Controller replacements so it decided to inflame itself w an electrical short. Sorry, couldn't resistD,
