Help! cloudy pool

If your pH is stable it's fine. Note that you can't get a reliable read on pH from test kit when FC is over 10. If you find your pH creeping over time, you will be adding acid to reduce it - that will bring your TA down with it until it stabilizes. No reason to try and lower it.

I would keep SLAMming if my OCLT was over 1, including 1.3.

I can't advise on the bird droppings or calcium scale making cloudy, but I don't think the scale would, no.

I've seen other threads where it takes that long. Often there's either stuff on the bottom that's obscured that they can finally see when the water finally starts clearing up, there was an issue with the filter and plumbing system, or algae was hiding out behind steps/in ladders/light niches/folds of vinyl liner/etc. I've seen you address all of these, though...

How did you get an OCLT FC loss reading of 1.3? The resolution of the test is one drop equals 0.5 ppm, so you would read either 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0, etc., but not 1.3. Just wondering...

When I recently went through my 5-day SLAM, when I finally passed OCLT, I had less than 1.0 FC loss overnight. It was between 0 and 0.5.

Yes it was 10ml sample

In that case I still don't understand how you came up with 1.3. The reading should end in a .0 or a .5.

I went back and read the notes on the FAS-DPD test instructions from tftestkits.net and even when using a 25ml sample, each drop is 0.2ppm, so readings would be in multiples or 0.2, which 1.3 is not.

Can you explain how you are doing the CC test, so we can make sure you are doing it correctly?

Ok I understand what your saying now. My fc was 13 when checked last night. I added 1 gal of 10% chl. Which pool math said would add 3.3 chl to pool. So that would be 16.3. I fell asleep before I actually verified that. But it's been very close. So that's what i went by. And this morning it was 15 when I checked. Does that make sense now?

Tonight try testing 15 mins after your last addition. Maybe you didn’t lose as much as you thought and the bleach was a little weak or less was added then you thought?
