Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Well, no plumbing today. They didn't finish up the job they were on. Tomorrow is supposed to be the day. I'm working the next 2 days so I won't be here. PB didn't come by. He will come by on Thursday morning when I am home.

Plenty of time to pray that this is worked out the way I believe it should go.

I love the WL tile, nice!!

Thank you! I love it, too. Just don't love the install job.

nini! I am with you on this. That is a VERY poor job and does need to be redone as in ALL of it :( What time will he be there or are you going to call him? My heart goes out to you as I hate confrontation. It gets my tummy all in knots as well as the not sleeping thing. NOT fun at all.

:sunny:SO here is my FL sunshine shining on you! You got this!:thumleft: Keep you chin up and remain:calm:knowing you are in the right! How could he even try to upset you?? :thequeen: Once he sees ALL of the places he will say  "WOW! That does all need to be redone. I will get a DIFFERENT crew on it right away!

Now if that does not do it just give me his phone number! hehe

Kim

Thanks Kim! I just dread stuff like this :(

I would be upset with the tiling, even knowing that a lot of that will not be very apparent once everything is done. Some things, like the huge grout line at the edge and the broken tile, WILL be obvious, especially to you. I'm already stressed that I will not be home for tile and coping tomorrow, and sloppy work is a big reason why!

It will need to be pressure washed in the future? I didn't know that...

Grout presents one of the rougher surfaces in your pool which means it's easier for substances (both bio and non bio) to cling to. When you consider that waterline tile (and therefore the grout) will see all the floating gooeyness in your pool (sunblock, yard debris, etc), it means your grout will absolutely pick up grime over time and discolor. Power washing is generally the easiest way to clean the grout...

Good to know! Guess i need to add a power washer to my "must have" list of additional pool items. Thank you!

The bad part is that unless you are looking over their shoulders it can happen while you are home! I guess if you popped out every 30 mins or so you might catch it before they got too far :(

Kim

I WAS home for most of the tile install but not the grouting.

nini I know :( and being home for the grouting would not have helped except for MAYBE the color. If you had been out there watching when they started you could have stopped them and said "that is not the color I want" BUT even then it might not have done any good. They might have kept on working to get it done.

I am thinking happy thoughts for you.

Kim

The only thought I have is, since they are going to have to tear it all out to redo it properly, you can get the grout color you want. See how that works out.

Realistically, anyone who have ever done any tile work at all knows that that HUGE grout line at the outside corner is unacceptable. You should figure your layout to an inside corner where you will have a choice as to which surface to lap. Any Pool Builder that would even suggest that it is acceptable has no pride in his work.

You might just point out that there are a lot of poeple following this build online.

Hi Denise! I'm finally finding the time to catch up on your build after all the craziness around here. I'm so sorry to hear of your tile/grout issues. I, too, dislike confrontation, but you are not out of line to insist on a higher standard and quality of work. It will all work out in the end, I'm sure, but the process of getting to the resolution can sure be a pain!

Hang in there. Your pool is going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see your plaster color too... Mine is looking more green than I would have thought, but it still could change. I'll be ok with it either way, but I just wanted to reassure you that your color choice is going to look awesome and not fake at all. It will be the perfect compliment to all your other design choices.

I agree with TM about making it a conversation. Ask him what he thinks of the job, if this is the quality of workmanship (with his name on it) he wants others to see. I'm guessing he'll take one look at it and it'll be a redo.

Hang in there!

Thanks, Chief! At this point I don't care so much about the color as I do the quality of the install. If I can get them to redo it, I may not push it on the color.

I couldn't see the pictures (Boo! [emoji24]) but I absolutely agree that sloppy work is not okay. It doesn't have to be a confrontation though. Think of it as a conversation! You'll do just fine!

It will be a conversation, for sure. I'm just hoping I don't cry during the conversation.

Welcome back, Jamie!
A pain is an understatement! I'm dreaming about this in my sleep, and my stomach is in knots.

Have you taken more recent pictures of your pool to show us? I would love to see how the color is evolving.
Thank you for the nice compliments in advance! I know it all will go together and we will be happy with it as we are blessed to even be able to do this build.

It is Thursday..........my thoughts are with you as the PB sees the error of their way and does what it right to fix it all the way.

Kim

Thanks, Kim! Your gifting is being an encourager, for sure!
Hope it goes well, be firm :)

I'm going to really try! I'm just not very good at it and often get steamrolled.

Hang in there!

I did mention that when we initially talked about the quality of the tile job. It will definately be something I will address again. At this point I'm concerned about the install of my LS tile and it being done correctly...

Plumbing Day 3
On day 1 they took out almost all of the remaining patio, pulled off the forms and started the trenching. It rained yesterday but they finished digging. And they cut our telephone (Internet) line. Oops! Hubby was a bit upset but these things happen. Bixby will fix it for free. I'll be calling them at 9 when they open and get it squared away.

Here's the current state of the Lazy Q Resort and Spa (our last name starts with a Q)

Even if PB comes by today, we can't get to the tile to look at it...

Although I was prepared for the mess, I did not have any idea how HIGH the dirt mounds would be or how deep the trenches.

I also thought 2" pipes would look smaller.

I sure hope this is all back filled really well and there are no air pockets left. But these are the things I worry about... I wish I could just do all the work myself.
Nope, I'm not a control freak, at all ;)

I'll post more pictures when I have more updates.

That was my first thought------------those dirt hills are SO high! WOW!

I hear you on the getting it all put down with NO air pockets that will make future problems.........compactor and water will do the trick.

You have the pictures on your phone AND if he really wants to he can find a way to get out there and look at it.

Kim

Bixby telephone has already been here and gone- internet is back up and running!!

Well, crisis averted...

The plumbers didn't have in their plans to stub for the future kitchen. Good thing I was here!
