Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Have you decided on a name yet?

(My vote is for Mortimer)

~Kevin (MN)
13.5k gal, 24' Round AG Vinyl
2HP Waterway Pump, 200sqft Hayward Element Filter
BBB Method & AuquaSmarte Inline Chlorinator, TF-100 Test Kit

I was just asking my husband what he thought we should name him. Mortimer's a great suggestion!!

Keep the suggestions coming! I'll keep a list and have the family vote. We also need a name for our future robot :)

Plumbing day is the worst -- seriously, those plumbers destroy whatever remains of your yard after the shell is dug. THe good news is that you are nearing the end now and soon everything will be beautiful!

They didn't finish today so I imagine they will be here again tomorrow for Day 4. They are working in a very tight space. It'll probably be Monday before I get some pictures posted of the progress.
The gas and water pipes are in place for the scupper wall and the fire bowls :)

Helen, I estimate the finish to be the end of May. LS tile is still 3 weeks out and then needs 21 days to cure before water.
So far (believe it or not) the mess doesn't bother me. I'm enjoying watching it all.

So, I talked to the PB today about the tile. I was very straightforward about the tile needing to be redone and what a bad job it is. He assured me repeatedly that he would make it right and that when everything is said and done, I will love it. We had a very good conversation and I felt like he really heard me. I told him about my anxiety, bad dreams, tears shed, and major stress over the whole issue. He asked me to let him worry about it and that he would put someone else on the tile. He said the tile will all be taken care of when the LS tile is installed.

At this point, other than the tile install, they have done a great job. I'm trusting that he is going to do as he says.

SO glad to hear all of that especially the part I put in red! I hope you slept better after hearing that.

That's great Denise! You handled the whole thing so well. We're proud of you and it must feel like a weight off your shoulders! I'm really glad your PB said he'd take care of it. Sounds like he's a stand up guy.

I can't see any of your pictures. [emoji45][emoji45][emoji45][emoji848] They show up as broken links.

Is anybody else having that problem? I want to see!!!! [emoji24]

Looks like good progress. The mounds of dirt are amazing! We also have some pretty big piles built up right now, but from the vantage point of the patio where we are usually watching, you can't really see them. I looked out my office window today which faces the mess and was actually kind of shocked at how tore up it all was. I had not looked at that side of the yard in a while.

All in all things seem to be going well on your build with just some minor hiccups. Your builder seems to be addressing any concerns you've had which is great and I think bodes well for the end product! I think we're just ready to begin that part now with the masons starting work and will need to keep a sharp eye on everything to make sure we intercept any issues before they become bigger fix items.

Me, too! Nice as the guy was, the quality just isn't there- even if he does have 35yrs experience.
Denise, that is great news!

Thanks, Marla! I'm really trying to relax and let him worry about it like he told me to do. Easier said than done ;)

TM, I'm sorry you can't see the pictures! Not sure what I can do to help...
maybe log in on a computer and not the tapatalk app.

Plat, I keep checking your build for progress, but you haven't given us any new pictures :(

I still have the "impressive" mounds and trenches. Such a mess! Lol!!
I agree that my finished product should be outstanding. This builder is known for it.

Today is my first of 4 days off. No OT this week. Taking a little break from it to recover mentally, physically and emotionally. A few days rest and sunny skies are just what I need!

Plumbing actually took 4 days, so they finished on Friday. Clean up should happen soon then it will either be masonry or decking depending on the schedule of the contractors. My plaster arrived to the office today, so no turning back on that choice now!

I'm still considering mosaic turtles in the pool but I'm leaning toward not doing it. My concern now is that it will be too "busy" looking.
Other decisions to be finalized are the filter (sand or DE), and scupper type... The clock is ticking...

We went to Sam's on Thursday and found some chairs and deck boxes that will work. I'd like to just buy them now but I have to do my taxes this week. If it's like last year's returns, what I owe will put a serious crimp in my spending on furniture for a while.

Here's the latest on plumbing pictures

lots of pipes for the equipment and the piping for the scuppers and fire bowls

They also had some really nice Sunbrella fabric 10' tilting aluminum pole umbrellas for around $115 or so

Lol! Yuck on the tadpoles! Otter mom and babies sound cute!

Had a HOA board member at my door today (neighbor from across the street). He was driving by and saw the trenches in the yard and wanted to ask what we were doing. He was surprised about the pool. We have been pretty stealthy ;)
It was good to know he came as a curious neighbor and not an angry board member.
