Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Wow Casey! What a gorgeous view you have!! I hope your hubby is doing better! Motorcycle accidents almost always have bad outcomes. Your pool looks great and seriously beats having no pool!
Our pool is a lifetime (45 yrs!) dream come true for me. We talked about it for years but I never really believed it would happen. It's STILL hard to believe we are actually doing this!
You haven't really missed anything in the beginning of the thread. Just a lot of chit chat :) Hopefully we will have some fun stuff before too long! Thanks for stopping by!

He was supposed to be on his way home. He never made it. I found out by calling his cell phone and a paramedic answered. 2thoughts entered my mind. Is he dead?! And if he's not, what kind of life is he going to have?! The outcome he got, very few get to experience, especially given his horrific head injuries (no helmet going 65mph around a 90* corner). There was no bike left. We lived through he'll. I'll tell you that. Some days I didn't know if I was coming or going. He has some mobility issues in his right leg, his neck hardware surprisingly held up from the year before, but he's got short-term memory loss. That was very hard to deal with. If I want or need something done, I do it myself. And it's not that I can't ask him, I will but he can't remember how to do simple things. I'm grateful he's still with me.

I wish i could have an inground. I'm satisfied with what I have n the project gives me something to do over the summer. It's funny cuz he never wanted a pool. The neighbor has one down over the hill n said we could use it while they vacationed. Every time I wanted him, I couldn't find him, he was in the pool. He uses our pool every day in the summer. He actually uses it more than i do. I like to use it on very hot days n when the granddaughter is here. He use to say, Dont ask me to clean it! I would say, I'd never! Guess who sweeps my pool 3xs a week?! He does! He loves to do it!!! Haha

So nice to hear the back-stories of people's lives. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! You have been through it- both of you! The residuals of horrific accidents are sometimes hard to live with. I'm glad you are at a place where you have adjusted to the new "normal".
Your build is on my reading list!

You find a new normal and even that is hard to deal with. You just have to move on.

Sounds like it!!
Casey- not everyone sticks around for the "in sickness" part. You are a blessing to your husband and a role model to those around you. Seriously.

I promise you... some days he probably wished he were dead!

Here is one of my favorite pics post accident.

Thanks. I don't know how he survived. I think about it sometimes n to recall details, it's a blur n I'd like to keep it that way but when I look at him, I ask myself, how in the he'll did you pull that off, I will never know?! His Neuro team was left slack jawed over his recovery. They all said people who suffer his injuries don't live to tell about it, let alone walk away from it. I joke with him n tell him, when X,Y,Z happens, it has your face in the medical books with your name in parentheses that says... EXCEPT THIS DUDE! HE GETS A PASS.

I loathe motorcycles. Too many dead or seriously injured friends....

After my husband's cancer surgery, with his short-term survival still in question, he bought a motorcycle. I hated the idea but I understood that he needed the bike as a way to feel like he was getting the most out of life. When he hit remission, and asked about selling the bike and replacing it with a Vet, I said SURE!!!! (And promptly sold some much-needed retirement assets) to get him off that bike!

I completely get it Marion. I did not want another bike after what happened. It took me awhile to even feel comfortable looking at another bike, let alone stepping foot into the Harley dealership. I needed my head checked in April when *itch made her way home.

Yes, her name it *itch. And she's mine. If he wants to ride her, he's gotta go through me. She's got an alarm on her to where he needs a fob to start her n guess who has the fob?! It ain't him!

I rode motorcycles when I was younger. Worked as a firefighter/paramedic and saw way too many injured. So when my kids came along, I gave up riding. Now that the kids are grown and I'm retired I thought seriously about getting a bike again. The wife pleading her case caused a compromise. Here is what we ended up with in place of the bike.

That's nice chief! I'd sell this bike in a heart beat for an in ground pool. I'd put it towards the retaining walls!
