This is a long story how I got sucked into this thing. A neighbor that's into buying and selling property bought a place it was a dog training facility. After after they purchased it they had it for rent and renters were coming in soon. In the back was a beautiful Olympic swimming pool 32 ft x 16 ft with a huge runway deck that opened up into a larger deck on one end of the pool. My neighbor said you can have it all if you move it The pool was two years old and empty.
I wanted the lumber. Along with this deck that was about 30 ft long itself came about 200 ft of wood fence.. have you checked the price of lumber especially pressure treated well I was all in. I didn't want the pool The pool was a pain in my butt I just wanted the wood but the pool had to go to.
Next paragraph I've got a grandson that lives with me who's 10 years old I have more grandchildren but this one sees my every move. When he saw this massive monstrosity of a swimming pool the bribing began. Papa I want a pool Papa can we have this pool Papa can you put this pool up Papa Papa Papa. And what does any adult respectable grandfather do when a grandson wants something that you know is going to be a big cost a big pain and a lot more work on the grandpa's plate?? Well you put up a pool that's what happens. We have a hobby shop My hobby shop is a building that I built that happens to be 32 ft by 16 ft footprint and we don't live on 20 acres so the Olympic pools out of the question however there was a lot of gifts besides the pool but led me to think that it would be a viable option. There was a dolphin robot that came with the deal .. again it was also 2 years old the big pump that came with that swimming pool because I know all of the above ground swimming pool pumps are usually undersized. So I started looking online and quickly found an 18 ft round above ground for 200 bucks it was one season old placed back in its original box with all its parts knick knacks and some extras. I sold the Olympic size pool without a pump so I finally got that thing out of the way it would have been nice but geez the problems I'm having now they would have been times two. We have a 6,000 gallon pool and I believe that one was over 14000 gallons .

My problem...
Now my little 6,000 gallon pool with a 2800 gallon per hour pump you would think you could keep it clean like a glass of water The problem is the diarrhea tree.. actually it's not one tree it's a fleet of trees. As soon as the weather gets nice and up to ride your motorcycle without a leather coat this thing starts to bloom and when the wind blows it blooms right into my pool I'm guessing that the organics is probably where this mustard algae seems to come from last year I emptied my pool twice and refilled it because I just could not get it to clean up. I've spent hundreds on chemicals hundreds with an s I'm not looking for sympathy and I'm really not looking for someone to call me an idiot which I know that I am already for purchasing this small pool and falling for the cute eyes that my grandson uses so well.
We winterized drop the water level covered up and of course with all the rain storms and everything it caved in Crud got in the water and a mess is what I had. About 3 weeks ago maybe four we completely drained it again pressure washed everything disinfected it with Clorox and started the refill. The beautiful party is I'm not buying water we have a well My son lives next door he has a well we are paying for the electricity to run the pump to get the water out of the hole and into the pool but the dangerous thing is every time I feel this 6,000 gallon toy it runs the heck out of my pump it happens to be nearly 300 ft in the ground and if you'd like an estimate on what those cost to replace I'll get back to you..
Like I said within 3 weeks though here I go I noticed it was a little cloudy I told my grandson and I quote hey buddy water looks like it's starting to get a little cloudy he replied no it's just your old eyes Papa. The next afternoon while putting a new roof on my shop's porch I looked over and seen that dreaded yellow color.. I immediately got down got on Amazon ordered some shock because I was out I did have about a third of a container of yellow treatment so I did put some in there brushed it all and left the pumps running to no avail..
I ordered some HTH shock pictured below it won't be here till Friday
The day before that when I seen it was cloudy I ordered super blue concentrate which won't be here till this Saturday. When I seen how bad it was getting I overnighted some shock I could get real quick also pictured. I was watching a video and now have learned that there or not only two different kinds of chlorine which I was aware of the slow acting tablet and powder I thought all powder was the same but apparently it's not this last shock is trichoro s you know the rest too many letters.

I'm just at a loss here everybody says their products the one that works everybody's got their own ideas on how it's done I know it can't be as hard as it is or is it seems to be... I don't pay somebody to cut my grass I don't pay somebody to work on my cars and I don't pay people to paint my house I do everything myself that's the way I was raised and it's the way I'll continue to do things and this problem here I have to just figure out I just don't know who to listen to because anybody that's selling anything is full of BS any help would be appreciated

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention the diarrhea tree been a thorn in my side since last year. So being of sound mind and body my buddy and I sit down and devised a plan. A plan you say? Sounds expensive or dangerous probably a little of both. The picture below is an exact replica of our swimming pool 1 in to 1 ft and the idea was to make a frame and have a cover manufactured to fit said frame.
Since my diarrhea tree is probably pushing 40 ft a vertical or semi vertical wall made from sail sun cover will just not work. With my primitive bender I was able to make the perfect radius to come 11 ft high but the problem was finding a company to sew up this design for a reasonable amount of money. It would have taken six pizza shape sections sewn together with an opening on one flap had it all worked out until it came time to actually doing it. This is what I said to myself you know this is probably going to be the last year I messed with this dadgum pool unless it gets much easier. The new idea is two poles about 12 ft tall out of ground about 4 ft in cmented with a pipe that will expand in between the two I have purchased a 25x25 square sun sail for 75 bucks it will roll up on the cross pole or open to a a frame tent shape to keep the trash from my waters.. I should name my swimming pool water the Gulf of Doom... This thing will be another week before it gets here and I'll start construction on the cover I had to do something to keep the trash out
. The normal pool cover was going to cost me more than this A-frame cover idea The other problem is the pool would fill up with this trash from this tree while you swim this way hopefully the kids can swim and the pool can be covered both at the same time and addition to it cutting down on the UV rays on the water and possibly chlorine locking which I believe was another problem I had last year anyway that's my update again thanks for any help anyone can share
