Hi all, Happy Labor Day! It’s a beautiful day in Wisconsin and my heater isn’t working (pool is 72 degrees🥶), so since I can’t be in the pool, I’m BY the pool putzing around. Can’t get enough of it!
I recently got my Taylor K2006 test kit and have had some trouble discerning the pH color. After doing a little reading on this site I tried the white background in bright light thing that several people suggested. Here is is. Would you call this 7.8?

A consistent background is key. To get good backlighting, hold the block in front of your computer monitor/tablet/phone with a blank white screen displayed. Also, try holding the block sideways or upside down. Sometimes that helps distinguish colors better. I also use two old hotel keycards to mask off areas and narrow down my decision.

Good suggestions, thank you!
