There's a temporary fence.. it disappears due to the camera, but it is there. Our fence guy uses this type of fence for code fencing on Martha's Vineyard did this while we wait for yard to get finished up and permanent fencing to go in.

Looks great! You guys really got a lot of work done in the last week or so. :)

Yea, it really all came down to the scheduling with Kadison. I wish I knew going in that was what defined the schedule. They had no incentive or need to do anything any faster as our Kadison date was August.

Oh well. We have a pool, we have more work going on this week, and we will be 90% complete on our transformation.

Duck says 74... pretty good seeing as the air temp is 72 and we had that rain after the fill. Heater for Labor Day weekend :)

I'd be brushing.. except the "startup guys" who are not my PB people have no idea about us. So maybe they'll come tomorrow?!

WHY ARE YOU SO TERRIBLE AT YOUR JOB!?!?!?

Please please please anybody from the area who reads this.. PLEASE pm me for who NOT to use!

I took time off work for this..

Are you sure it is the Taylor 2006 and not the Taylor 2005? If it is the 6 you are set!! That is one of the recommended kits! The regents are good for one year (some do last longer but it is best to replace after a year to be on the safe side). BUT I just thought of something.....when did the PB buy these kits? Have they been sitting in a hot warehouse? Heat degrades them so.....

Here is a pool care schedule: Pool School - Basic Pool Care Schedule This gives you an idea of what we use the most of.

Well.. got my kit today.. it's a K-2005 :( What do I need to beef up my setup?

According to startup crew I only need to focus on TA, CH, and pH for the first 10 days. Told me the CYA was not even a test worth while..

This is better than some............we had one builder that gave them a SAMPLE of test strips!

Okay so you can beef it up by buying this: FAS/DPD Chlorine CC's test

BUT the amount of regents in the 2005 is small and can only do a couple of tests. I strongly suggest you get this kit: Test Kits Notice it is only $40 more and has everything you will need with a far greater amount of tests. I have a link to share that shows you how many tests are in each kit: Pool School - Test Kits Compared I do notice it does not list the 2005. I looked up the 2005 in Amazon. It states it Includes 3/4 ounce reagent bottles.

Well looks like I'm on track with that card as well. My CYA full disolved sometime today, so I'll test ph, ta, ch, and cya tomorrow and see if I have a green light to chlorinate per the card.

Pool startup company says nothing for 10 days but doesn't think cya is a worth while test...

Maybe because they also mentioned I should use tabs? Who knows..

I think I'm in the clear but don't exactly grasp all the interactions and want to make sure I am not rushing

Wait on the CYA test until tomorrow so it has a chance to get all mixed in good.

Here is a quick look at what interacts together:

-TA and pH work hand in hand-once your plaster cures (could be in as short at time as 3 months and as long a year so...) we will tweak these number to find what works best in your pool.

-FC & CYA are also friends-CYA drives how much FC you will need to keep your water clear BUT if you have too much CYA it would be hard to add enough FC. Here is a chart for that one: Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart

Everything else is kind of stand alone stuff. It does all work together when you look a the overall picture for care of your plaster.

I hope that helps.

Great, very helpful.. I'm using the PoolMath App and so far have been having no issue dialing into the targets. Works really well!

I'm going to test CYA today, when I measured for the first addition the "cloudy" liquid was clear and went to the brim with no difference.. lovely. So I played the numbers game and added ~2lbs to my skimmer t-shirt style. PTI wants 20-30ppm, no idea how below 30ppm I was, I opted to add 15ppm for my volume. If it were 0, it'd put me pretty close to range, if it was at the bottom of range, it'd put me slightly over.

Looks like the TFTestKit goes down to 20ppm, did the addition I make sense? Is that what people do when they go below 20 ppm? ie I can see the dot and I'm full... ok add 30 ppm!

I say if it is cloudy at all, more like a haze, then call it 10 and go from there to hit 30. That way if you go over you will still be within range so you did good! You are really getting the hand of it! Make sure to keep asking questions and checking in as you learn and tweak your levels!

So I got my TF-100 and tested CYA...

Still seeing the bottom of the view tube, filled to the brim. I've added:

~2 lbs 8/21
~2 lbs 8/23
~2 lbs 8/27 (today)

I did this all by old t-shirt tossed tied off and tossed in the skimmer basket. Dissolves in ~ 24 hours.

Filters running 24/7

If we say I truly started at 0, this should push me up to 42 ppm

If I started around 10 ppm, this would push me to 52 ppm..

What really has me confused, is if I started at 0, and added 2 lbs on 8/21 and 8/23, should this register 4-6 days later? I know some people have seen it take a week, but I feel like something not adding up. Is there something that depletes CYA?

What brand of CYA did you use?

Is the CYA test water at least hazy at all? Some thing is not adding up.

Definitely hazy, looking at the taylor site for the start, mid, and end results I'm getting closer to the end for sure. I'm just not there yet. I suppose I'll test CYA Thursday and report back. That should be more than a week from the first dose and a week for the 2nd.

After doing more reading, I guess CYA is not naturally occuring meaning I should have assumed 0ppm to start. By my new calculations this will put me at 42ppm if I measure in a week.

Ahhhhhh yes CYA has to be added as it is not naturally occurring. Good catch on that part. Tablets used to add chlorine will add CYA as well as the powder shock. At least you know there is some in there with it being hazy.

Kim:kim:

I'm going the bleach/liquid chlorine route so no CYA from that source either. I guess the good news is I'll be hitting a "perfect" number for CYA by next week.

My other readings are leveling off other than pH.

80 ppm TA
230 ppm CH
7.4 pH
? ppm CYA
0 ppm Chlorine

I'll add another quart of MA tonight, which keeps the pH rise at bay.

irrigation went in yesterday, permanent fencing goes in today/tomorrow, loam rake thursday, hydroseed Friday, as-built Saturday.. I've been tossing lattice up around my deck the past few days, once those things are complete we get to rest for a bit!
