Florida woman finally building a pool!

@kimkats Working my way through the reading, thanks for sending the links! It says to test your hose water, or the water that is used to fill or mix the plaster. How do I test it? I have never done that so no clue what is in our water.

Have you ordered/received your test kit yet? If so, just pretend like you are testing your pool water but use tap water instead, or if you are filling your pool some other way, see if you can get a sample of that water.

What do you all think of these pictures? Is it normal for the gunite to not be perfectly smooth? I see pits and one spot that looks like a whole piece fell off.

@wireform I went back into my pool today and looked at that spot. Its not rebar but the wire they used to make the lines straight. It feels like a thin fishing line but metal. Do you think I need have them remove it? Should I point out to contractor?

@wireform Ok, good to know. I will make sure they remove it all. That one piece they will need to dig out somehow. I tried pulling it but it was in there and would not nudge. No idea why they would have left it there either.

Thanks,
Christina

@cowboycasey What is bonding wire? I wont pull anything, I sent a picture to the supervisor/contractor and waiting for a response. What is bonding wire? This looks like the wire that they used to figure out the width for the gunite, to help with the layout. I see some of it laying in pool. But really not sure what it is.

A bonding wire is what connects all you pool and fitting and pump to make it safe... Should be 4 copper wires coming out of the shell and then 1 connecting all of them back to the pump pad... :)

@wireform So I asked the contractor about that one picture where it looks like half a tennis ball came out and he said that will be filled with plaster. Is that normal or ok?

Today was plumbing!! I was excited to see the equipment. I had them give me the manuals too. Do you see the chlorinator/salt system? I see a filter and pump but am I supposed to see a chlorinator? I didn't get a manual for that.
