In the middle of last season I bought a TF-100 kit and started using it. So I'm still new to all of this.

We just opened the pool yesterday. Uncovered tarp (Put on in March to help with pollen) and mesh pool cover. Water was clear (you can see the bottom), but light debris on bottom. We vacuumed that to waste and added water to fill back up. Finished late in the evening, so I tested levels this morning:

TC: 0
PH: 6.8 (could be lower, but thats as low as the kit goes)
TA: 20
CH: 50
CYA: <10

I know I will need to SLAM and I know I need to raise all the levels, just not sure what I need to do first and thereafter in sequential order.

The attached pictures were taken this morning. It looks green, but we vacuumed everything up. Not sure if its stained? or if scrubbing is needed.

Thanks for the help.

 Welcome to TFP!

Was there CYA in the pool last season?

I would add baking soda to target about 60ppm first. Let mix 30 minutes. Retest ph and TA. Then add 10ppm of FC and retest FC and CC after 15 minutes and post results.

Thanks. I have been scouring the website for some time, it was time to jump in.

Yes there was CYA (30), but then again I did end up vacuuming to waste at the end to get rid of algae before I closed it.

It called for 16lbs of baking soda...I had 12 lbs on hand.

ph: 7.2 (I'm still getting used to this, but it was definitely closer to 7.2 then the 6.8)
TA: 55
FC: 6
CC: 0

I have the dry acid, so I'm using the sock method. How long should that take to raise to 30ppm? and should I continue to measure CYA and then when its at 30ppm SLAM or start the SLAM process this evening?

Here is a photo from this morning.
