Extreme learning curve Please HELP!!!!

Back from the beach!! Checked pool when I got home. FC was down to 10 CYA is at 30. I added half a gallon of liquid chlorine like pool math suggested. Took a pic below. Also took a pic of how much debris was in the robot filter. Not much for 2 cycles since cleaning.

Im a new pool owner but this seems to be taking awhile, is there a reason why he could not just put extra bleach in it for a night? before I even cleaned mine out I had dumped so much bleach in mine it was clear, I could see the diapers and the dead animals mixed in with the mud and leaves. :/ or pump about 1/2 the water out out and fill with fresh water. I am learning btw. so please dont do anything I say

OK since there is not much change happening lately I loaded up on some studying last night by reading through a lot of different threads available here. I found one that someone said you should backwash your filter for a minimum of 3 minutes each time. I had not been back washing for nearly that long because it takes a lot of water out. So this morning I back washed for three minutes, and then rinsed. I also did a thorough test and my results are below. I have the robot on a 1 time a day schedule now.
FC=13
CYA=30
CC=1
CH=100
TA=50
PH=6.8
Please give me any suggestions you may have......Thanks,

I'm still thinking this has something to do with it being too cold for algae to grow so the chlorine is ineffective. Has water temp changed much? I assume you are running your pump/filter 24x7?

During the SLAM Process just test FC and CC and ocassional CYA checks. No reason to waste reagent.

pH test is not accurate when FC is over 10.

Your chemistry looks fine.

Backwash your filter until the water runs clear under the sight glass. It does not need to be a hard 3 minutes.

It is what it is. I would not tell him to stop the SLAM Process. The FC loss shows chlorine is being consumed by algae kill and CC created. The process may be slow but going in the right direction. If not for the SLAM Process the algae would be growing, not declining. Like we are hearing elsewhere he is bending the curve down.

yes running filter 24/7 pool water temp was 60 this morning, was up to 62 on Friday. We are supposed to have some regular spring like temps this week forecast says 80 degrees Friday.

For sure I would not recommend stopping it, just trying to understand why it is taking so long.

Very cool thread, keep up the work. I haven't ever done the SLAM process so it's really awesome to see such a detailed thread like this; thanks for posting everything!

Me too!!! Growing really tired of my buddies telling me to take a sample to the pool store and they will get it cleared up. I am determined to prove them wrong! being this is my first opening of this pool I just keep thinking Im doing something wrong or there is something wrong with my equipment.

The often you test and adjust the FC up the faster a SLAM will go. Any time the FC drops below SLAM level you lose a bit of progress. It took a while to get like it was so it is going to take a while and LOTS of chlorine to get it back to clear.

How often are you checking each day and adding chlorine? At least 4x a day is good.....more often is even better if your testing shows a FC loss. Anyone at home that could do a few doses??
no I work so i usually test and add before I leave at around 6:30 am then when I get home at around 6:30 pm and then again before bed at around 10pm but it never drops below slam. the only reason it dropped slightly yesterday was because I was out of town and skipped Saturday

Hows it going? Looks like your chlorine was busy working while you were gone. Hopefully you can really start to see the results.

Not wanting to state the obvious, but are you sure you are checking your FC correctly? It sure seems like this one is taking a loooooong time.
