ok No problem with filter..... just an overreaction for nothing. Still SLAMMING!!!!! Pic attached... getting there... have had the pool robot in there today for a while. Still getting a lot of crud out but seems to be a lil less each time. I can actually see the robot in the shallow end. It’s not clear but I can see it. Stay tuned!!!!

Pics tell the story. Positive change is good. The chlorine is doing its job. Try to be patient and maintain the FC and brushing. Before you know it, you'll see the robot in the deep end. The final stages are the toughest trying to be patient.

Ran the robot for two cycles today. I am pretty sure I have a suction side leak and that’s where the foam and bubbles coming from returns are originating. I turned the pump off while the robot was in because the robot kept getting stuck on the drain. While the pump was off I noticed water leaking (Slow drip) from the pump plug. No leak while pump is on. Tried to tighten it more and realized it is stripped out. Do y’all think this is the source of my bubbles and foam?

Pump strainer pot drain plugs can suck-in air when bad. I would look into replacing it and making sure the plug o-ring has some pool silicone lube on it as well. Good catch.

I'll agree that air can be sucked in there but the foam isn't from there. It's the junk being lifted off the floor as the chlorine is working the water. Had the same situation last summer on a very dark green 3 year closed pool. Will check what I bought on Amazon that had great results with zero side effects. Foam just disappeared.

Hey Texas... Not much change. I let the robot work all day Sunday. Still getting debris out but nothing like at first. I was not able to brush yesterday, but have not had to backwash since Saturday I think. Filter pressure is still on 10. Think I could see a little bit further down the wall yesterday, or maybe its just wishful thinking. I should get home before dark today and I will update the pic. Tested this morning at 6:00 am and the FC was at 16 and CYA is still 40. so we be SLAMing!!!!

Getting all the debris out of the pool is key to speeding up the progress. The organics in the debris consume the chlorine. A clean pool will let the chlorine attack the algae and the algae have no place to hide. Do everything you can to get the debris out.

Have been vacuuming with skimmer vac, and running the robot when I can. Hoping to see the bottom so if there is something down there I’m missing I can get it. Been trying to brush everything toward main drain then vacuuming up. The amount of debris in the robot and skimmer has significantly reduced so hoping I have gotten most of it

Add DE to a Sand Filter

A clean pool filter will increase the efficiency of your pool! ... your filter are to backwash it, clean the manifolds and grids, and add new DE.

My understanding is that yes, it will speed things up since it helps the sand filter out smaller particles. The downside is that you have to backwash a lot more, maybe even daily. As long as you are prepared to do that, I would say go for it.

Ok so FC was down to 14 when I got home. Poured in the amount of liquid chlorine that pool math said. Put the robot in and I can notice a difference today. I can see deeper now, not the bottom of the deep end yet but can see the robot down pretty deep on that end now and can for sure tell a difference when it’s in the shallow end. Did stop at Lowe’s and get some DE. All they had was a Clorox product. You think it’s ok to use it?

I would not use DE till the water comes clear. For the water to come clear necessitates time and slam level FC. It will not go quicker because of it. I would backwash the filter every 3 days even if the psi isn't up just to rid it of what's there.

Have had a couple of gorgeous mid 70 s sunshiny days here in NC. Test results and pic below. Have had a drop in CYA and am adding more water now as a result of what was frequent back washing. So now FC a lil high but I think it will be ok specially with adding water. I am not needing to back wash hardly at all. I did i it 3 days ago and then yesterday even though the pressure was not up any. Pool still cloudy but I feel like I can see a little deeper each day. The last pic I was trying to show that you can see down a ways. Have been running the Robot and last night when it was finished with its cycle there was not much debris in it at all. Hope we are close to a sparkling clear pool very soon. A Friend at work and another buddy that has a pool are giving me a hard time telling me I’m gonna have to go to the pool store to get it clear. I’m sticking with the SLAM. I will show them the TFP way.... lol
