Thank to TFP and contributors, I learnt a lot about pool construction from these forums. Now, I am finally done with pool designs and looking to get feedback on design and also equipment suggestions.

Equipment:

Pentair 3.0 hp. variable speed pool pump.
Pentair IntelliCenter
Pentair Intellichlor Ic40
Pentair Master Temp 400 BTU HeaterCapture2.JPG

That is very similar to what I've got on my pool, which I recently finished.
  • What model number is the pump?
  • How many gallons is the pool? You may want to get the larger IC60.
  • I went with the Quad DE 100 filter. Lots of discussion on DE vs cartridge vs sand. I'm happy with what I got but don't really have any other comparison.
  • 5" is very shallow for the sun deck. Mine is 12", not sure I'd want to go much less than that. But maybe it will work for you.

Thanks for the feedback. I am still not sure on pump model number? What do you have for your pool and any suggestions?

Hi Foxer, thanks for your feedback.

I am not sure of the model numnber of the pump. Do you ahve any suggestions for my pool size?
Total 30,300 gallons in the pool. I will get a larger IC60
Why did you go with Quad DE 60 vs cartridge? I am still not sure on filters too
great idea on 12", now I am realizing 5" is too shallow. I will change it to 12"

Are your skimmers pointed into the prevailing winds?

I would move the skimmers in a bit and put more returns on the opposite wall.

Use all diverter valves and no ball valves.

Lots more tips in....

thanks for all your suggestions and all those links are in my bookmarks now.

Be sure to check out the Pentair Warranty Information to ensure you get the full 3 year warranty - you need to have a qualified installer and purchase everything on a single invoice.

Note: Qualified Installer - Defined as a licensed professional who charges a fee for his services, and possesses a business license, contractor's license and/or resale permit. Common examples of a "qualified installer" include: Swimming Pool, Home Repair or Landscape Professional; Plumber or Electrician; General Contractor; Heating and Air Conditioning Specialist.

Note: Bundled products - must be purchased on the same invoice and installed at the same time. If any product within a bundle is ineligible for the bundled warranty coverage then all products within the same bundle will be disqualified from receiving the three (3) year extended warranty coverage for bundled products.

Members on this forum (myself included) have used Polytec Pools and they offer a bundled IntelliCenter w/ IC60 that should save you money. With regards to pool pump the Intelliflo is preferred, but there is also the Whiperflo VST as a substitute.
