Decoy’s Above Ground Pool Saga

And a water shot just cuz I’m rolling TFP!

Picked up some more chlorine from lowes today. I think this will be enough for the rest of this season. I basically spent about 70 bucks on chlorine the since the install July 11th. I still have 9 bottles. But I think I’ll have at least 3 left before the season is up.

It looks so nice and I know u have worked hard on it but I fear u have used DWV sweeps as 90’s, they aren’t meant for pressure.
Dang! Just when I thought I was done. My buddy who does the plumbing manages it and I never questioned him. I think you’re right they say DWV on them.

I had the pump to filter and filter to return with these elbows for 2 months with no leaks or issues. I think it will last me until closing. But now I’ll add that to the list for next year. Unless you think it will be an immediate concern?

That should be ok- just be sure to pay attention to them until then. The saga continues…

The question I have because I don't know is how much pressure is in a skimmer or return pipe? Maybe the return has more because of the eyeball but I would think very little pressure. Yes, it's not schedule 40 but I think it should hold up for quite a while. As was said, it's better than hoses and may never be an issue.

But piece of mind is a good thing and it may be worth it to replace them in the spring.

I will be grabbing your pics to show how the pavers should be used for the future safety of your pool outside! WELL DONE!
Thanks for the advice Kim! I appreciate it and tried to execute!

Yeah I guess if they are also out all winter and subject to big temp shifts it may also affect their longevity. I plan on taking the main runs apart from the unions and storing them for the winter.

I have no idea of the pressure but I know the cheap thin hoses didn’t burst right away they typically last at least a season.

As said I’ll keep an eye on them. My main concern is if we go away but that’s not happening before I close for this season.

I’ll make a plan to swap out the 90s next year
The pressure rated ones will likely say DWV on them also because they are backwards compatible. Once you hold both in your hand, you'll never unsee the difference. The DWV collar is about as thick as a hockey puck and pressure rated is like 2 hockey pucks thick.

My hand slipped while installing a sink and I pulled the waste line right out the socket. I won't even use them for what they're meant for because what if they get hit or the ground settles ? They're weak, plain and simple.

Ha! I can’t seem to win with the plumbing I guess. Maybe 4th time will be the charm 😂It. will be all part of the fun. I do think it will hold for the month. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼

Yes, that's the piece of mind I'm talking about! I came home or woke up a couple of times to my hose being a fountain, not a large fountain but at least it wasn't enough to drain the pool in the time it was doing its show.

It should hold under the PSI used for the pool. Just be mindful of it when you're out there not to bump into any of it, or slip doing something else sending an arm or leg flying at it.

I went from holding water dead on to losing 1/2 inch a day when the nights cooled off. If I didn't know what I was looking at with the morning 'cup of coffee' in the backyard, (NICE one BTW) I would have been running here all HALP I HAVE A LEAK. :ROFLMAO:

At the old place with the heater running on cold nights, (pre cover), it filled the yard with horror movie like fog. I ran around the house the first few times going to work thinking something was on fire in the backyard. Then I got the electric bill and it was a whole DIFFERENT horror movie.

😂Ha! If I didn’t read it here I would’ve totally asked the question why is my pool a fog machine!!

I can imagine what that must look like with a large in ground.
