Deck is finished and the pool has been great for 2 years..

Re: Deck is finally started

Jeff, great job on the deck...but I like that Traeger Pellet pooper even more! I got a Big Green Egg right now, and have been looking at Traegers for a while now for a grill. May just get one. Also, when you coat your deck with the One Time Wood...take some photos...my deck is nicely weathered now too, and I need to coat it, but just not sure what to use yet.

+1 Vote for Traeger. I have a Junior right now and plan to upgrade to a Texas in the near future.

The Treager is DEF awesome. The green egg is sweet too. My brother has had a treager for along time when they used to be made in the USA and not china like they are now. I have had to strip and paint our treager in less then 2 yrs. When I was scraping the paint off the factory painted over rust. For the price I was not happy.

Also here are the 2 samples of one time I got. The darker is clove brown and the other is Golden Honey. We are going to go with the Golden I believe I am thinking the other may get to hot on your feet.

Thanks everyone on the comments also. We get a ton of use out of it for sure. Especially the wife and kids and me when I am not golfing. My brother and his family come over all the time as well. They use our pool and I get to use his putting green anytime LOL. That was the deal we made when he put the green in and I did the pool LOL...

No, I actually lifted up the edge of the pool and secured them under the rail. You can not even see them unless they r on. I did the top rail around the deck and measured and had just enough to go around the pool rail that was on the deck. They just add a little extra if you ask me. Also after a few drinks walking on the deck you know where the rail is LOL... Here is a pic of the rail and as you can see you can't see them.

I assume the lighting is safe around the pool like that? Water and electricity together like that scare me. :(

Yep not even concerned. I have built LED lighting for my own reef tanks over the last few yrs. This is also encased in a rope and also no water comes into contact with it even if it wasn't. I appreciate the concern though. Actually at our cabin where I first saw these led rope lights many of them actually have it under there docks even with some of it under the water. I would say its every bit as safe as any light you have in your pool say a stair light or a light coming from your return line. I would say even more so then some of them as I have went through a few of those lights. Even to find water inside the lights themselves and rusted. Everything is also GFCI equipped. Another reason is Low Voltage 12v also, :goodjob:

Thanks. The Traeger cooks everything awesome. From Pizza to anything you can think of for the most part. I have a smoke daddy hooked up to it if I really wanna infuse some smoky flavors..

Re: Deck is finished and the pool has been great for 2 years

I use the cable that came with my top and put it throw the grommets and then just lift up the edge and tuck it under. Have had zero issues here in the harsh IL winters so far.

Also we opted for the darker color of one time. We'll have the cleaning supplies today and plan on cleaning the deck and neutralizing it tomorrow. Then if weather cooperates plan on staining either friday or saturday after it dries out a few days. So hopefully next week will update with some new deck pics..

Re: Deck is finished and the pool has been great for 2 years

Ok here's 20 hours on my hands and knees of scrubbing the deck getting it ready for the one time wood. The rain put a damper on letting it dry to start applying tomorrow. Hoping I can do it Saturday now. It takes a couple days of sunlight to cure. On the small deck I still need to spray the deck brite but it's just to wet right now. Hoping the rain tapers off later today so I can do that. The deck is very wet in these pics but yesterday it actually looked like new wood. Should tke the one time great and really look nice. Here are the pics of my hard work and blistered knees and busted up knuckles lol. No golf this weekend to sore.
